How it works

Four steps to a straight fence.

No sales pitch at the kitchen table. A measure, a written quote and a build date.

  1. Step 1: Tell us about the yard

Five quick steps online, or one phone call. Add a few photos if you can.

  2. Step 2: Free measure, written quote

We walk the line with you, mark gates and posts, and email a written quote within 48 hours.

  3. Step 3: 811, permit and HOA

We request the utility locate, check permit rules with your city or county, and prepare your HOA packet.

  4. Step 4: Build day

Most fences go up in 1 to 3 days. We pull a string line, set every post in concrete and clean up.

Why Stringline

Built to stay straight for years.

A fence is only as good as its posts and its gates. That is where we spend the extra time.

Before we dig

Property lines, permits and HOA, handled.

The fence you can see is the easy part. Here is what we sort out before the first post hole, in plain terms.

  • Property lines

We build where you tell us, using your survey, plat or found property pins. We do not decide where the line is. If the pins cannot be found, a licensed land surveyor can stake them, and we can wait for that.

  • Permits

Some towns and counties need a permit for a fence, some only for certain heights, pools or corner lots, and some need none. We check with the city or county for your address and pull the permit when one is needed.

  • HOA approval

Most HOAs want to see the plan before a fence goes up. We prepare the packet: a drawing of the fence line, the material and colour sheet, and the height. You submit it, and we wait for approval before we order.

  • 811 before we dig

We request a utility locate before every job and wait for the marks. Private lines like sprinklers, invisible dog fences and lighting are not marked, so we ask you to point those out.

  • Got three quotes. Stringline was the only one that wrote the price per foot and the gate prices on separate lines, so I could actually compare. The crew finished in two days and the top line is dead straight.

  • Our pool builder needed the fence done before the final inspection. Dana looked up the rules, set the gate to swing out and close on its own, and met our timeline with a few days to spare.

Carlos D., Greer Black aluminum pool barrier
  • The HOA packet was ready the day after the measure. Approval came back in a week and they were here the week after that. White vinyl looks great and I will never stain a fence again.

Good to know

Questions, answered.

Prices, property lines, permits and install day, in plain words.

Still unsure?

Call and talk it through with Dana or Lena. No pressure, no expiring discounts.

How much does a fence cost per foot?

Installed, in our area, in 2026: about $16 to $24 per foot for galvanized chain link, $28 to $40 for a 6 ft pine privacy fence, $34 to $50 for 4 ft black aluminum and $38 to $58 for 6 ft vinyl privacy. Gates, slope, rocky ground and old fence removal are priced as separate lines.

How close is the online estimate to the real quote?

Usually close, because it uses the same price book. The written quote is the number we hold. It can differ if we find slope, rock, roots or access issues on site, and we explain any difference line by line.

Do you find my property line?

No. We build where you show us, using your survey, plat or found pins. If the pins cannot be found, a licensed land surveyor can stake the line. We are happy to wait for that.

Do I need a permit for a fence?

It depends on your city or county. Some need a permit for every fence, some only for certain heights, pools or corner lots, and some need none. We check the rules for your address and pull the permit when it is required.

Will you deal with my HOA?

We prepare the packet most HOAs ask for: a drawing of the fence line, the material and colour sheet and the height. You submit it as the owner, and we wait for approval before we order materials.

How long does install take?

Most homes take 1 to 3 days. Long runs, steep slopes and lots of rock take longer. Concrete needs a day to cure before gates are hung.
