What moves the price
Six things that change a fence quote
-
Length
The biggest driver. Price per foot drops a little on long runs because setup is spread out.
-
Material and height
Chain link is the least per foot, cedar and vinyl the most. Taller fences need longer posts and more boards.
-
Gates
Each gate is priced on its own. Drive gates need heavier posts and a drop rod.
-
Slope
Hills mean stepped or racked sections, more cuts and longer posts.
-
Ground
Upstate red clay is fine. Rock and big roots slow every hole.
-
Old fence
Removing and hauling away an old fence is a line item, never a surprise.
