FAQ

Questions, answered in plain words.

Prices, property lines, permits, HOA approval, install day and upkeep. If yours is not here, call the office and ask.

Pricing and quotes

How much does a fence cost per foot?

Installed, in our area, in 2026: about $16 to $24 per foot for galvanized chain link, $28 to $40 for a 6 ft pine privacy fence, $34 to $50 for 4 ft black aluminum and $38 to $58 for 6 ft vinyl privacy. Gates, slope, rocky ground and old fence removal are priced as separate lines.

Is the quote really free?

Yes. We measure on site, mark the line and gates with you, and email a written quote within 48 hours. There is no charge and no obligation.

How close is the online estimate to the real quote?

Usually close, because it uses the same price book. The written quote is the number we hold. It can differ if we find slope, rock, roots or access issues on site, and we explain any difference line by line.

How long is a quote good for?

60 days. Material prices move, but we will not change a written quote inside that window unless the job changes.

Do you need a deposit?

We ask for 30 percent at signing to order materials, and the rest when you have walked the finished fence and are happy with it. If your HOA has to approve first, no deposit is due until it does.

Property lines, permits and HOA

Do you find my property line?

No. We build where you show us, using your survey, plat or found pins. If the pins cannot be found, a licensed land surveyor can stake the line. We are happy to wait for that.

Do I need a permit for a fence?

It depends on your city or county. Some need a permit for every fence, some only for certain heights, pools or corner lots, and some need none. We check the rules for your address and pull the permit when it is required.

Will you deal with my HOA?

We prepare the packet most HOAs ask for: a drawing of the fence line, the material and colour sheet and the height. You submit it as the owner, and we wait for approval before we order materials.

How tall can my fence be?

Many backyard fences top out at 6 ft and front yard fences at 4 ft, but the limits are set by your town and HOA. We confirm them for your address before we quote.

Install day

How long does install take?

Most homes take 1 to 3 days. Long runs, steep slopes and lots of rock take longer. Concrete needs a day to cure before gates are hung.

Do I need to be home?

Only at the start, to walk the line with the crew lead. Please keep pets inside and gates closed while we work.

What about my sprinklers and invisible dog fence?

The 811 locate marks public utilities, not private lines. Point out sprinkler heads, lighting wires and pet fence lines before we dig, and we will work around them.

Will you clean up?

Yes. Dirt from the post holes is spread or hauled, scraps are removed and we run a magnet over the lawn for screws and nails.

Materials and upkeep

Which fence lasts longest?

Aluminum and vinyl usually last 20 to 30 years with little care. Chain link lasts 20 years or more. A well-kept wood fence lasts 15 to 20 years.

Which fence is best for dogs?

For jumpers, a 6 ft privacy fence. For diggers, add a wire apron at the bottom. For small dogs and aluminum, ask about puppy pickets.

Do you stain wood fences?

Yes. New pine needs to dry first, often 6 to 12 weeks. We can come back to seal it, priced per foot.

Warranty and repairs

What warranty do I get?

Five years on our workmanship: posts that lean, gates that sag, rails that pull loose. Materials carry the manufacturer's warranty, which we hand you in writing.

Do you repair fences you did not build?

Yes. Posts, boards, panels, gates and storm damage, on any brand.
