How we do it
Mowing is most of what makes a lawn look cared for. We cut at 3.5 to 4 inches for the cool-season grasses common in central Ohio, because taller grass shades out weeds and holds water through July. Blades are sharpened every week so the tips are cut clean instead of torn. Clippings are mulched back into the lawn unless they are thick enough to clump, which returns nutrients for free.
When: Mid-April to late October, about 28 weekly visits. Rain moves your visit to the next dry day and we text you when it does.
On every visit
- Mow at 3.5 to 4 inches, changing direction each week so the stripes stay even
- String-trim around beds, trees, fences, the mailbox and the AC unit
- Edge the sidewalk and driveway every other visit
- Blow clippings off walks, the driveway, the porch and the patio
- Latch the gate, then text you a visit note with a photo
Plain about products
What goes on your lawn
Nothing goes on the lawn during a mowing visit. We keep mowing and treatments on separate trips on purpose, so a mow day is always fine for pets and kids.
Kids and pets
When the lawn is ready again
No restrictions. Kids and pets can be on the lawn as soon as the crew leaves.
Price by lawn size
How pricing works| Service | Small Under 5,000 sq ft | Medium 5,000 to 9,000 sq ft | Large 9,000 to 14,000 sq ft | Extra large 14,000 to 20,000 sq ft |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Weekly mowing per visit | $42–$50 | $50–$62 | $62–$78 | $78–$98 |
| Every-two-weeks mowing per visit | $52–$60 | $60–$72 | $72–$88 | $88–$108 |
Every-two-weeks service runs about $10 more per visit, because taller grass takes longer to cut and clean up. If the lawn is over 8 inches at the first visit, the first cut is billed at one and a half times the visit price. Over 20,000 sq ft, we measure and quote in person.
Book this when
- Your mower died and you would rather not buy another one
- You just moved in and the lawn got away from the last owner
- Weekends are for your family, not for edging the driveway
- You want the lawn looking the same every week, not just after a free Saturday
Questions about mowing
What happens when it rains on my mow day?
Wet grass tears and leaves ruts, so we wait. Your visit moves to the next dry day, usually the next morning, and you get a text when it is rescheduled. Saturdays are kept open for rain make-ups in May and June.
Do you bag the clippings?
Not usually. Mulched clippings break down in days and feed the lawn. We bag when the grass is long enough to clump, on the first spring cut, or if you ask us to. Bagging adds $8 to $15 a visit.
Do I need to be home?
No. Most customers are at work. Leave the gate unlocked or share a gate code in the quote form, and tell us about dogs so we never surprise one.
