Cabinet painting

Doors and drawers sprayed in our shop, boxes painted on site. A smooth, factory-like finish for far less than new cabinets.

How we do it

Painting cabinets well is mostly patience. We label and remove every door and drawer front, take them to our shop, and degrease, sand and prime them before spraying two coats of a hard-curing cabinet enamel. While they cure, we prep and paint the cabinet boxes in your kitchen behind plastic sheeting, so you still have a working sink. Most kitchens are back together in 5 to 8 working days.

Good to know

Oak cabinets have an open grain that shows through paint. We can fill the grain for a smooth finish, which adds about a day and is priced as an option. Thermofoil and laminate doors usually don't hold paint well, and we'll tell you that at the visit instead of taking the job.

When to book

Booked all year. Winter is a smart time: your kitchen is out of action for about a week, not a month.

Time on site

5 to 8 working days for most kitchens.

Questions we hear

How long will painted cabinets last?

With proper prep and a cabinet enamel, many years of normal use. The finish is fully hard after about three weeks, so go gently with the doors for the first while.

Can you change the hardware too?

Yes. If the new pulls need different holes, we fill the old ones before priming so they disappear under the paint.
