Service colourCL-08 Lake Teal

Painter standing on a low roof painting the window trim of a two-storey stucco house on a clear day

How we do it

A Wisconsin exterior goes through freeze, thaw, sun and snow every year, so the paint is only as good as the surface under it. We wash every surface, scrape and sand loose paint, replace cracked caulk, and prime bare wood the same day so it never sits open to the weather. We paint from May to early October, when nights stay warm enough for the paint to cure properly.

What's included

  • Soft wash of siding and trim before any prep
  • Scraping and sanding of loose and flaking paint
  • Bare wood spot-primed the same day it is exposed
  • Old, cracked caulk cut out and replaced
  • Two coats on siding, with trim, doors and railings done separately
  • Plants, walkways and windows covered, paint chips collected daily

Good to know

Homes built before 1978 may have lead paint under the newer coats. We test before we scrape. If lead is there, we follow lead-safe work practices, which adds containment and clean-up time. You'll see that as its own line on the quote, never as a surprise.

When to book

Painted May to early October. Spring dates fill by March, so most clients book their estimate over the winter.

Time on site

4 to 6 days for a ranch, 7 to 12 days for a two-storey home, weather allowing.

Questions we hear

What happens if it rains?

We watch the forecast daily and won't paint onto wet siding or ahead of rain. A rain day moves your schedule by a day; it never gets painted over a damp wall to stay on time.

Do I need to be home?

Not usually. We need access to an outdoor outlet and water, and a quick check-in at the start and end of the job.
