Yes — panels run on light, not heat, and actually convert more efficiently in cold air. Colorado winters are sunny; the real cost is shorter days and snow cover, so December output might be a third of June's. That seasonality is built into the annual model we size from — you bank summer credits and spend them in winter. Panels shed most snow on their own within a day or two; please don't rake them.
My roof is 15–20 years old. Should I still add solar?
Usually not yet. Panels last 25+ years; bolting them to a roof with 5 years left means paying to remove and re-install the array mid-life (typically a few thousand dollars). If your shingles are past ~15 years, we'll recommend re-roofing first — or waiting. About 1 in 6 of our assessments ends exactly that way.
Will my electric bill actually go to $0?
Almost never, and be wary of anyone who promises it. You'll still pay your utility's fixed monthly service charge, and exported energy is often credited below the retail rate. A well-sized system typically offsets 80–95% of the energy portion of your bill. We show the expected bill, not a fantasy one.
