Honest math, shown working
Our calculator prints its assumptions next to its answers
Put in your monthly bill, roof direction, shade and region. Out comes a system size, a cost range and a 25-year estimate, with the rate, usage and sun hours it assumed printed right beside it. If your roof doesn't pencil, the calculator says so. A real quote still needs a site assessment, and the tool tells you that too.

Light knocks electrons loose in the silicon. No moving parts, no heat required. Cold, bright winter days are actually efficient ones.

An inverter (one big one, or a small one under each panel) turns DC into the AC your home runs on. It's the hardest-working part, and the one warranty worth reading.

Panel manufacturer warranty
Panels lose a little output every year (about 0.5%). That's normal. The output promise only kicks in if a panel drops faster than the published curve.

Inverter warranty
If a string inverter dies in year 14, that's a real cost. We quote the extension up front so it's your choice, not a surprise.

Yes. Panels run on light, not heat, and they actually work more efficiently in cold air. Colorado winters are sunny; what you lose is daylight hours and the odd snowy day, so December might produce a third of June. We size from your whole year, so summer credits carry you through winter. Panels shed most snow on their own within a day or two, so please don't rake them.
My roof is 15 to 20 years old. Should I still add solar?
Usually not yet. Panels last 25 years or more. Bolting them to a roof with 5 years left means paying to remove and reinstall the array mid-life (often a few thousand dollars). If your shingles are past about 15 years, we'll recommend re-roofing first, or waiting. About 1 in 6 of our assessments ends exactly that way.
Will my electric bill actually go to $0?
Almost never, and be wary of anyone who promises it. You'll still pay your utility's fixed monthly charge, and energy you send to the grid is often credited below what you pay for it. A well-sized system often covers 80% to 95% of the energy part of your bill. We show you the bill to expect, not a fantasy one.
