EV chargers
A Level 2 charger in the garage or on the driveway, wired safely and permitted. We check your electrical panel before quoting, and if you're adding solar too, we size it with the car in mind.
At a glance
EV chargers at a glance
- Charge speed
- 20 to 40 miles added per hour
- Time on site
- Half a day to a full day
- Panel check
- Included, before any quote
- Estimated cost
- Often $1,200 to $2,500 with charger
Costs and times are typical ranges for a fictional demo company, shown as estimates before any incentive programs. Your fixed quote replaces them after we check your home.
What's included
Everything in the price, listed
- Electrical panel and service check (photos or a video call work for many homes)
- A dedicated 240-volt circuit sized for your charger
- Hardwired or plug-in charger, mounted indoors or out
- Permit and inspection
- Optional: scheduled charging to use midday solar or cheaper hours
Is it right for you?
When it makes sense, and when we'd tell you to skip it
Good fit if
- You drive more than about 30 miles a day
- You park in a garage or driveway the cable can reach
- You're adding solar and want it sized for the car too
Probably skip it if
- You drive short distances: a regular outlet (Level 1) may be all you need
- Your panel is full and the upgrade costs more than it's worth to you right now. We'll tell you.
Honestly: An EV often adds 250 to 400 kWh a month to your usage. If you also want solar, tell us about the car before we size the system, not after. And if a regular outlet covers your driving, we'll say so.

Northbeam workmanship
If our wiring, mounting or roof work fails or leaks, we fix it, and any damage it caused, at no cost to you.
A neighbor's experience
What it looked like for a neighbor
Fixed a competitor's leak, then earned the expansion
Another installer's roof mount leaked into our garage. Northbeam re-flashed it (paid work, fairly priced), then a year later added six panels and a charger for our new EV. Both times: on schedule, tidy, zero drama.
Questions about ev chargers
Straight answers
All FAQs →Do I need a Level 2 charger?
Not always. If you drive under about 30 miles a day and park overnight, a regular 120-volt outlet may keep up. Level 2 makes sense for longer commutes, two EVs, or anyone who hates waiting.
Will my electrical panel handle it?
Many do. Some older or full panels need a load-management device or an upgrade. We check first and give you the options with prices before you commit to anything.
Can the car charge from my solar?
In practice, yes. During the day the car uses solar first; at night it uses grid power that your daytime credits help pay for. Scheduled charging can shift more of it into sunny hours if the car is home.
