Three lawyers and one intake director. Every case has a lawyer who knows it by name and returns your calls. Nobody gets handed off to a call center.

Portrait of Renee Calder

Founding partner

Renee Calder

“Riders get blamed first. Our job is to put the facts in front of the adjuster before that story sets.”

Renee started Calder & Rowe in 2004 after five years defending insurance companies. She learned how adjusters value a claim, and which facts move the number. Now she uses that on the other side.

She has ridden a touring motorcycle for twenty years. Riders do not have to explain lane position or road grip to her. She leads our motorcycle and uninsured-motorist work, and she tries the cases that do not settle.

  • Motorcycle crashes
  • Uninsured and underinsured motorist claims
  • Trials
  • Admitted to practice in Ohio since 1999
  • Five years as insurance defense counsel
  • Tries cases in Franklin and surrounding counties

Leads: Motorcycle accidents, Uninsured and underinsured motorist claims

Portrait of Thomas Rowe

Partner

Thomas Rowe

“When a family calls from the hospital, the first job is not the claim. It is making the next week a little easier.”

Thomas joined Renee in 2008. Before that he worked for a city law department, so he knows how claims against public bodies are handled from the inside, and how fast their deadlines run.

Many of his clients never meet him in person at first. They are the daughter or the husband calling from a hospital hallway. He explains things twice, slowly, and he is fine with that.

  • Bus and transit crashes
  • Pedestrian injuries
  • Drunk-driver crashes
  • Admitted to practice in Ohio since 2002
  • Six years in a city law department
  • Handles claims against transit authorities and school districts

Leads: Pedestrian accidents, Bus accidents, Drunk-driver crashes

Portrait of Samir Haddad

Associate attorney

Samir Haddad

“Doorbell video gets recorded over in days. So we knock on doors in days.”

Samir joined the firm in 2019. He rides to the office most days, so dooring and right-hook crashes are not abstract to him.

He runs the evidence side of our cases. That means video preservation letters in the first days, rideshare trip records, bike computer files and phone data. Evidence fades fast after a crash. He works fast.

  • Bicycle crashes
  • Rideshare crashes
  • Hit-and-run claims
  • Admitted to practice in Ohio since 2018
  • Leads video and data preservation for the firm
  • Speaks English and Arabic

Leads: Bicycle accidents, Rideshare accidents, Hit-and-run crashes

Intake director

Lena Ortiz

“Most people who call us have never called a lawyer before. That is fine. Start with what happened.”

Lena runs our intake line. She is not a lawyer, and she will tell you so. Her job is to listen, write down what happened while it is fresh, and get the right lawyer to call you back.

She speaks English and Spanish, and she can arrange a call in other languages.

  • Intake and first calls
  • Hospital and home visit scheduling
  • Spanish-language callers
  • With the firm since 2012
  • Not an attorney, and does not give legal advice

Call any hour. A lawyer calls you back.

Tell us what happened in five short steps, or call the intake line. A free case evaluation costs nothing, and you do not have to hire us afterwards.

No fee unless we recover money for you. Answered 24 hours a day, every day.
