About
Built by people who filled in the daily log on paper.
Purlin started in 2019 as a daily log app for one general contractor's superintendents in Columbus, Ohio. The rule then is the rule now: if the super will not use it, nothing else matters.
Why we built it
Dana spent eleven years as a project engineer and PM. Ruben ran jobs as a superintendent. Between them they had used five construction platforms, and watched most of them die in the field because the people on site never opened the app.
So they started with the field. A daily log that works with no signal, that copies yesterday's crew, and that a super can finish in the truck. Then RFIs and drawings, because that is what the daily log kept pointing at.
Job costing came later, built with two project accountants who wanted the PM and the books to stop disagreeing. Bids came last. Every module still has to pass the same test: would the super use it?

How we work
Four rules we do not bend.
-
RULE 01
Field first
If a superintendent cannot do it with one thumb on a cold morning, the feature is not finished.
-
RULE 02
Every login free but yours
Unlimited users on every plan. A tool the subs cannot open is a tool nobody uses.
-
RULE 03
Your data leaves when you do
Export everything, any time, in plain files. Nobody should stay with software because leaving is hard.
-
RULE 04
Say what it does not do
Every product page lists its limits. We would rather lose a deal on the demo than in month three.

The people you will talk to.
Fictional people for this demo. On the demo call you meet someone who has run a job, not a script.
