Purlin

Drawings Every plan

The current drawing set on every tablet. The old one out of the way.

Upload the set and Purlin reads sheet numbers and titles from the title block for you to confirm. New revisions go on top, old ones are kept but marked superseded, and RFI answers and punch items sit right on the sheet.

Who does what

Useful on the deck and at the desk.

In the field

  • Open the latest revision, even with no signal, once the set is downloaded
  • Tap a pin to see the RFI answer or punch item at that spot
  • Compare two revisions with an overlay that shows what moved

In the office

  • Publish a new set and everyone gets it at once, with a note of what changed
  • Keep every superseded sheet for the record, out of the field's way
  • Share sheets with subs by trade, so the plumber gets plumbing

What it does

Drawings, in detail.

01Title blocks read for you
Purlin reads sheet numbers and titles when you upload. You check the list and publish. Fixing a misread takes one click.
02One current revision
The field only ever sees the current sheet. Superseded versions are kept with dates, a click away for the office.
03Overlay compare
Lay revision 3 over revision 2. Added lines show in one color, removed lines in another.
04Markups that mean something
Clouds, arrows and notes can be private, shared with the team, or turned into an RFI or a punch item.

Paper still shows up on site. The tablet always has the latest revision.

How it works

Four steps, start to finish.

  1. STEP 1

    Upload the set

Drop in the PDF. Purlin splits it into sheets and reads each title block.

  2. STEP 2

    Confirm and publish

Check the sheet list, fix anything misread, add a revision note, publish.

  3. STEP 3

    Field downloads

Tablets pull the set for offline use. Only changed sheets download next time.

  4. STEP 4

    Pins build up

RFIs, punch items and photos collect on the sheets as the job goes.

Limits

What it does not do.

  • Purlin views and marks up PDF drawings. It is not a CAD or BIM authoring tool, and it does not open model files.
  • Title block reading is good, not perfect. Hand-drawn or unusual title blocks need a quick manual check before publishing.

Questions

How big can a drawing set be?

Sets of several thousand sheets work fine. Tablets download sheets as they are opened, or the whole set at once before heading to a site with no signal.

Can subs see only their sheets?

Yes. Share by discipline or by sheet list. Subs see the current revision of what you shared, nothing more.

Bring one real job to the demo.

Thirty minutes with a former PM or superintendent. We load one of your RFIs and one of your drawings, and show you what your field crew would see tomorrow morning.
