FAQ
Straight answers
The questions drivers, dispatchers and pickup owners ask us most, answered the way we would answer them at the counter.
Rates and billing
What is your labour rate?
Heavy-duty shop labour is $165 an hour, diesel pickup labour is $145 an hour, and mobile or roadside labour is $185 an hour. All of our rates are on the rates page and posted in the shop.
What does the diagnostic fee cover?
$195 for heavy-duty, $165 for pickups. It covers a connected scan, up to one hour of pinpoint testing and a written finding with repair options. If you approve the repair within 7 days, the fee is credited in full.
Will the final bill match the estimate?
Yes, unless the job changes and you approve the change. If we open something up and find more, we stop, call you, and send a revised estimate before going further.
How can I pay?
Card, check or ACH. Fleet accounts get net 30 terms after a short credit application.
Scheduling and turnaround
How long will my truck be down?
We give typical ranges, not promises: a DOT inspection is usually 1 to 2 hours, a PM-A 2 to 4 hours, a DPF clean 1 to 2 business days, an injector job 1 to 3 days. Parts and what we find inside decide the real number, and we update you at each step.
Do you take walk-ins?
Yes, and we will tell you honestly how long the wait is when you pull in. Booking ahead, even the same morning, gets you a bay time.
Can I drop a truck after hours?
Yes. There is a lit, fenced drop lot and a key drop box by the office door. Text the unit number and the complaint to the shop line and we will start in the morning.
Fleet accounts
How many trucks do I need for a fleet account?
One. Owner-operators can have an account too. It is a billing and scheduling setup, not a contract.
Can we set a spending limit?
Yes. You set an approval limit, and anything above it waits for a call or text from your approver.
Roadside
Is the roadside line really 24/7?
The line is answered around the clock. After 10 p.m. the call goes to the on-call tech. Arrival times are typical ranges and run longer at night and in bad weather.
Do you tow?
No. If a truck has to come in, we arrange a heavy tow with a towing partner and hold a bay for it.
Emissions and inspections
Will you delete or tune out the DPF, EGR or DEF system?
No. Removing or defeating emissions equipment is illegal, and we won't do it on any truck. We will diagnose and fix the system so it works.
Are your technicians certified?
We don't lean on badges. Our techs get paid training every year on the engines and aftertreatment systems we see most, work from factory service information, and annual inspections are done only by inspectors trained and qualified for that work. Ask us about any tech's background; we are happy to tell you.
Are you a dealer for any truck or engine brand?
No. Crossmile is an independent shop and is not affiliated with any truck or engine maker.

Truck down or planning ahead?
Send the details and Carla writes back with a price range and the next open bay, usually within one business hour while the shop is open. If the truck is stuck on the road right now, call the roadside line instead.
