The four-week rule: keeping beans at their best

The most common question at the roastery counter isn't about origins or grind size. It's: how should I store this? The answer is boring, cheap, and slightly controversial.

The enemies, ranked

Oxygen, heat, light, moisture — in that order. The freezer debate is fun at parties, but for a bag you'll finish within four weeks it's unnecessary: a sealed, opaque container in a cool cupboard beats every gadget. Squeeze the air out, roll the bag tight, use the clip.

Buy less, more often

The real storage hack isn't storage at all — it's cadence. A 340 g bag is roughly 22 mugs. Match your delivery frequency to your actual drinking pace and every cup you brew lands inside the freshness window. That's the quiet logic behind the whole subscription: freshness by scheduling, not by preservation.

And please: grind right before you brew if you can. Ground coffee stales in hours, not weeks. A hand grinder pays for itself in flavour within the first bag.
