Getting started

Do I need a referral?

No. You can book directly. If your insurance plan requires a referral for specialist visits, our coordinator will tell you before your first appointment.

Is there a weight or BMI I need to be at?

No. Anyone who wants medical support with weight can book a consultation. Medication has its own guidelines, and a clinician decides if it fits you after a visit and labs.

What should I bring to my first visit?

Your insurance card, a list of your current medicines and supplements, and any lab results from the last three months. Wear comfortable clothes. You do not need to do anything to prepare your body.

Will I be weighed?

Only if you are comfortable. Weights are taken privately, and you never have to look at the number. Many people prefer a body composition scan, which shows far more.

Medications

Do you prescribe GLP-1 medications?

Yes, when they fit. A physician or nurse practitioner decides after your consultation and lab work, using your health history and FDA guidance. Many of our patients do well without medication.

What are the side effects?

The most common are nausea, feeling full fast, constipation, diarrhea and tiredness, mostly in the first weeks or after a dose increase. Less common but serious problems include pancreatitis and gallbladder issues. We explain all of them before you start and tell you how to reach us the same day.

Do you use compounded medications?

No. We prescribe FDA-approved medications filled at a licensed pharmacy you choose. We do not sell medication in the clinic.

Can I switch to Evenkeel if I already take a medication?

Yes. Bring your prescription details to the consultation. We review whether to continue, adjust or change it, and we coordinate with your current prescriber.

Cost and insurance

Does insurance cover this?

Often in part. Consultations and labs are usually billed to insurance as regular medical care. Program fees are self-pay. Medication coverage varies a lot by plan, and we check it before you start.

Can I use my HSA or FSA card?

Most HSA and FSA cards work for program fees and single services. Check with your plan to be sure.

Is there a contract?

No. Programs are month to month. You can pause for up to three months or cancel with notice before your next billing date.

Your program

How much weight will I lose?

We cannot promise a number, and you should be careful with anyone who does. Bodies respond differently. We focus on health changes you can measure, like blood sugar, blood pressure, strength and energy, and we adjust the plan as we learn how your body responds.

Can I do visits by video?

Yes. After your first in-person visit, most check-ins can be done by video from anywhere in North Carolina.

What if I have a hard month?

Tell us. Hard months are part of every long-term plan. We adjust, without blame, and keep going.

These answers are general information, not medical advice. Your clinician will talk through what applies to you.

Ready to talk it through?

A consultation is a conversation, not a commitment. Send a request in five short steps and a coordinator will call you within one business day.
