Physician-supervised weight plans
A written plan made by a physician who looks at your sleep, stress, current medicines and lab results, then adjusts it with you month by month.
Overview
Your weight has a medical story. A good plan starts by listening to it.
Your first visit is about 60 minutes with a physician or nurse practitioner. We ask about your health history, your past attempts, your sleep, your work and what matters to you. Then we order the right labs.
Some common medicines can make weight harder to manage. We review yours and, with your other doctors, look for options.
Your plan is written down. It covers food, movement you can actually do, sleep, and whether medication makes sense. It changes as you do.
Who it fits
This may be a good fit if:
- You want a medical look at why weight has been hard for you
- You have a weight-related condition such as prediabetes or high blood pressure
- You want a plan with or without prescription medication
- You like regular check-ins to stay on track
A supervised plan is not
- A crash diet or a very low calorie plan you have to buy from us
- A replacement for your primary care doctor (we keep them in the loop)
- A promise of a number on the scale by a date
What happens
-
Step 1: Full consultation
About 60 minutes, in person. History, goals, medicine review and an optional body composition scan.
-
Step 2: Labs
Drawn on site in Raleigh, or at a lab near you, usually the same week.
-
Step 3: Plan review
We go through your results and write your plan together. Medication is discussed here if it may fit.
-
Step 4: Monthly visits
20 to 30 minutes, in person or video. We adjust what is not working and keep what is.
-
Step 5: Shared notes
With your permission, we send visit notes to your primary care doctor.

Compare all programsWhat progress looks like here
We track more than weight. Blood sugar, blood pressure, sleep, energy, strength and how your clothes fit all count, and some of them change before the scale does.
Progress is rarely a straight line. Plateaus and small regains are normal, and they are a reason to adjust the plan, not a reason for blame.
Questions
Do I have to take medication in a supervised plan?
No. Many people in supervised plans never take a weight-management medication. Medication is one option the physician may discuss, and you decide.
Will you talk to my regular doctor?
With your permission, yes. We send a short note after your plan review and after any medication change.
This page is general information, not medical advice. A clinician reviews your health history before recommending any treatment.
