Lab work and metabolic testing
Your plan should be based on more than a number on a scale. Lab work shows blood sugar, cholesterol, liver, kidney and thyroid health, and we walk you through every result.
Overview
Results are not just posted to a portal here. A clinician sits down and explains them with you.
Before any plan, we check the basics: A1C and fasting glucose, a lipid panel, kidney and liver function, thyroid (TSH) and a blood count. We add others, like vitamin B12, vitamin D or hormone tests, only when your history points to them.
Draws happen on site at our Raleigh clinic, usually in under ten minutes. You can also use a lab near your home or work.
At your plan review, we go through every number, what it means and what we will do about it. You get a printed copy to keep.
Who it fits
This may be a good fit if:
- You are starting any Evenkeel program (labs are part of the first month)
- You want to know where your blood sugar and cholesterol stand
- You take a GLP-1 medication and need follow-up labs
Before your draw
- Most panels need an 8 to 10 hour fast. Water and your usual medicines are fine unless told otherwise
- Tell us if needles make you faint; you can lie down for the draw
- Bring your insurance card so we can bill your plan

Most insurance plans cover these labs when they are medically needed. If you are self-pay, we tell you the price of each panel before the draw.
Compare all programsWhat labs can show
Labs can show prediabetes, high cholesterol, fatty liver changes or a thyroid problem that affects weight. Some of these change how we build your plan, and some need care from another specialist, which we help arrange.
A normal result is useful too. It tells us what is going well and gives you a baseline to compare against later.
Questions
Can I use labs from my regular doctor?
Yes, if they are from the last three months. Send them to us before your visit and we will only order what is missing.
Will I get my results online?
Yes, in the patient portal. But we always go through them with you at your plan review too.
This page is general information, not medical advice. A clinician reviews your health history before recommending any treatment.
