Richmond, since 2012
About Larkin
An independent repair shop with four technicians, four stocked vans, and one office phone that a real person answers.
Started behind a parts counter
I watched people buy $400 parts for problems they didn't have. Larkin exists so that stops happening.
Dana Larkin, owner
Dana Larkin spent nine years behind an appliance parts counter in Richmond. Every week, someone came in with a guess from a video and left with the wrong part. Every week, someone else had been told their fridge was finished when it needed a $30 relay.
In 2012 Dana bought a used van, stocked it with the parts that fail most, and started taking calls. The rules were simple: find the real problem, show it to the customer, write down one price, and say so when an appliance isn't worth fixing.
Today there are four technicians and Tasha in the office. The rules haven't changed. We still don't sell appliances, so the only thing we have to gain is your next call.
How we work
-
Show the part
We show you what failed, and photograph it if you weren't in the room. You should never have to take our word for it.
-
Price in writing
One written price for the whole repair before any work. If something changes, we stop and ask.
-
Say replace when it's true
We don't sell appliances. When a repair isn't worth it, we say so and charge only the diagnostic.
-
Leave it cleaner
Boot covers at the door, a drop cloth under the work, and a wipe-down before we go.
The people who'll show up
Your text before arrival names your technician. Every one of them is insured and background-checked, and refrigerant work is done only by technicians with EPA Section 608 certification.
