Our own crews, our own masons

We don't hand your project to the lowest bidder. The people who build Verdant gardens are Verdant people. Masonry, carpentry, planting and lighting all run under one project manager and one schedule you can hold us to.

Landscape construction, the Verdant way

Much of a landscape budget goes into things you never see: the base under the paving, the drainage, the soil. We build those parts as carefully as the parts you do see, because they decide how the garden looks in year ten.

Because our own crews price our own drawings, the proposal is fixed and itemised. The only changes are the ones you ask for, and those are priced and signed before the work happens.

What's included

  • Dedicated project manager & weekly site reports
  • In-house masonry: setts, walls, steps, terraces
  • Garden carpentry: screens, pergolas, studios
  • Grading, drainage & excavation
  • Tree moving and specimen planting
  • Low-voltage landscape lighting

Step by step

How a build runs

  1. Fixed-price proposal

Itemised line by line from the master plan, with a start date and a named project manager.

  2. Permits and site prep

Permits, utility locates, protection fencing and a note to the neighbours, all before the first machine arrives.

  3. Building, week by week

A written report with photos every Friday, and a swept, tidy site every Friday too.

  4. Walkthrough and handover

We walk every system with you, from lighting timers to drainage, and hand over care notes for the first year.

Stated plainly

How builds are priced

Every build is fixed-price, from our own construction drawings. Focused projects start under $75,000. Most full-property design-builds land between $150,000 and $300,000.

  • Fixed, itemised price before work starts
  • Changes priced and signed before they happen
  • Five-year workmanship guarantee, two-season plant guarantee

Landscape construction in the portfolio

Three case studies where this part of the work did the heavy lifting. Each one tells the whole story, with timelines and the investment band.

  • Classic Estate

    Stonebridge Arrival

A stone-and-stucco estate deserved better than cracked stamped concrete. We rebuilt the entire arrival sequence in full-range granite (drive, terraces and steps) to look a century old on day one.

  • Outdoor Living Retreat

    The Quarry Lane Courtyard

A walled city backyard, overlooked on three sides, became a private evening room under one perfectly placed Japanese maple.

    Old Quarry · 2024 · Investment $75,000 to $150,000

  • Modern Formal

    The Ravine Farmhouse

A new modern farmhouse above the ravine needed a landscape with the same discipline as its architecture, and enough green mass to soften all that crisp siding.

Client words

“Verdant's masons worked like the house was theirs. The drive looks inevitable, which I gather was the point.”

The Harringtons · Harrow Point

“Two books written out there so far. The commute is the best forty steps of my day.”

Questions about landscape construction

Who actually does the work?

Our own people. Masonry, carpentry, planting and lighting are in-house crews. We bring in licensed trades only for things like electrical connections and gas lines, and we schedule and supervise them.

Can you build a plan another designer drew?

Sometimes. First we turn the plan into construction drawings our crews can price. If the plan needs changes to be buildable, we tell you before we quote.

How long will you be on site?

Six to sixteen weeks, depending on scope. A city courtyard is closer to six. An estate arrival with stone terraces is closer to sixteen.
