Landscape design-build · Est. 2009

Designed outdoors,
masterfully built.

One studio carries your garden from the first pencil line to the last laid stone — and keeps it beautiful for decades after. Master plans, our own build crews, and gardenkeeping with a horticulturist's eye.

Studio: design, build & care

Every garden below was drawn at our studio and built by our own crews. Each case study tells the whole story — the brief, the design, the build, and the plant list, botanical names included.

Modern Formal · Fernway · 2024

Low Sun Court

A mid-century ranch with a brutal western sun and a cracked asphalt drive became a serene white-and-green composition that peaks at golden hour.

0.4-acre corner lot · 10 weeks on site · investment $150,000 – $300,000

Classic Estate · Harrow Point · 2025

Stonebridge Arrival

A stone-and-stucco estate deserved better than cracked stamped concrete. We rebuilt the entire arrival sequence in full-range granite — drive, terraces, steps — to look a century old on day one.

1.8-acre estate frontage · 16 weeks on site · investment $300,000 +

Naturalistic Meadow · Kestrel Hill · 2023

Kestrel Hill Meadow

Half an acre of thirsty lawn became a fountain-grass meadow with mown paths — cut once a year, alive the other 364 days.

0.5 acre of former lawn · 4 weeks on site · investment under $75,000

One studio, three disciplines

Design-build means the person who draws your garden and the person who prices it work at the same table — and answer to the same name.

01

Design

Every project begins as a drawing. Our studio produces the master plan, planting plans and construction details in-house — so what we draw is what our crews can actually build, priced honestly before a shovel moves.

02

Build

We don't broker your project to the lowest bidder — the people who build Verdant gardens are Verdant people. Masonry, carpentry, planting and lighting run under one project manager and one schedule you can actually hold us to.

03

Maintain

A designed landscape is a living thing with a point of view. Our gardenkeeping team — horticulturists, not crews with trimmers — keeps the design intent alive: editing, pruning, feeding and renewing on a seasonal calendar written for your specific garden.

Two minutes, four questions

What's your garden style?

Property, style, scope, budget — answer four questions and we'll name your design language, show you the built projects that share it, and point you at the right first step.

Take the style quiz
  • Modern Formal

Crisp lines, clipped green architecture, a calm and ordered ground plane.

  • Naturalistic Meadow

Grasses that move, perennials in drifts, a garden that hums with pollinators.

  • Classic Estate

Natural stone, boxwood structure, hydrangeas — timeless and symmetrical.

  • Outdoor Living Retreat

Rooms for evenings outside — dining terrace, fire, a place to disappear to.

From walk-through to first season

01 · Week 0 · ~90 minutes

The walk-through

A free, unhurried walk of your property with a principal designer — not a salesperson. We listen, look at light and grade, and tell you honestly what your ideas will cost before anyone draws anything.

02 · Weeks 1 – 4

Concept design

We develop two design directions for the property — different answers, not the same answer twice — and present them at the studio over the survey and our site photography.

03 · Weeks 5 – 8

The master plan

Your chosen direction is developed into the master plan: every dimension, material, tree and light fixture resolved. This is the document the garden is built from — and priced from.

04 · Weeks 9 – 12

Proposal & permits

Because our crews price their own drawings, the proposal is fixed, itemised and honest. We handle permits, utility locates and neighbour notice while the contract is finalised.

05 · 6 – 16 weeks by scope

The build

Excavation to final sweep under one project manager. You get a weekly site report with photos, this week's work and next week's plan — and a tidy site every Friday, because you still live here.

06 · The year after

The first season

A garden is planted, not finished. Your first year includes establishment visits from our gardenkeeping team, a spring review with your designer, and our two-year plant guarantee doing its quiet work.

“Verdant's masons worked like the house was theirs. The drive looks inevitable — which I gather was the point.”
