Light trails of fast-moving night traffic streaking beneath office towers on a New York avenue

Car & Truck Accidents

New York's no-fault system pays your initial medical bills — but it caps lost wages, excludes pain and suffering entirely, and its 'serious injury' threshold decides whether you can bring a real claim at all. Insurers count on you not knowing where those lines are. We've spent two decades on the other side of that phone call.

Deadline

Generally 3 years from the crash to file suit in New York — but no-fault benefits require a claim within 30 days, and cases against a city vehicle require a notice of claim within 90 days.

How we build the case

What we set out to prove

  • Fault — police reports, intersection cameras, event-data recorders, and witness canvassing before memories fade

  • Serious injury — building the medical record that clears New York's Insurance Law §5102(d) threshold

  • The real cost — future treatment, lost earning capacity, and the life impact adjusters leave out of their first number

Compensation

What you may recover

  • Medical bills — past and future, beyond the no-fault cap

  • Lost wages and reduced earning capacity

  • Pain, suffering, and loss of enjoyment of life

  • Property damage and out-of-pocket costs

Wondering about numbers? Our settlement calculator shows how claims are valued — honestly, with the math visible.

Recent car accidents recoveries

$2,400,000

Truck collision Settled 2025

Box truck ran a red light on Queens Boulevard

A 46-year-old school custodian suffered a fractured pelvis and shoulder surgery after a distribution-company truck struck his sedan. The carrier blamed a 'sudden brake failure' — our download of the truck's event-data recorder showed no braking at all.

Settled two weeks before trial.

$1,200,000

Rideshare passenger Settled 2024

Rear-seat passenger in a highway pile-up

A 29-year-old graduate student suffered a herniated disc requiring fusion surgery. Three insurers each pointed at the others — we brought claims against all three layers of coverage.

$890,000

Rear-end collision Settled 2023

Stopped at a light on Northern Boulevard

Two herniated discs and radiating nerve pain for a 51-year-old MTA employee. The insurer's first offer was $19,000 — 'soft tissue only.' Independent imaging said otherwise.

Final settlement was 46× the first offer.

Prior results do not guarantee a similar outcome; amounts are gross, before fees, expenses and liens. Fictional demo examples.

Common questions

Asked in almost every car accidents consult

The insurance company already offered me money. Should I take it?

Not before someone values your claim independently. First offers routinely arrive before the full extent of an injury is known — and once you sign a release, the claim is over forever, even if you need surgery a month later. A free case review costs nothing and creates no obligation.

What if I was partly at fault?

New York follows pure comparative negligence: your recovery is reduced by your share of fault, not eliminated. Even a driver found 60% at fault can recover 40% of their damages. Don't let an adjuster convince you that partial fault means no case.

The other driver was uninsured. Is there anything I can do?

Often, yes. Your own policy's uninsured/underinsured (UM/SUM) coverage may apply, and in rideshare, delivery, and commercial-vehicle cases there are frequently other policies in play. Finding every layer of coverage is one of the first things we do.
