About Sterling Justice Law

Started by a lawyer who used to work for the insurance companies.

We know how claims get valued from the inside. Since 2003, we have used that knowledge for one kind of client: people hurt by someone else's carelessness, here in New York.

Our story

Why this firm exists

For eight years, Daniel Sterling defended insurance companies. He sat in the meetings where claim values were set and watched adjusters score people by how tired, confused or alone they seemed. The people with no lawyer got the lowest numbers, every time.

In 2003 he quit, rented two rooms above a deli near Herald Square, and made one promise: the people those companies graded would never face that room alone again. Twenty-three years later, the firm is bigger. The promise is the same.

Today our attorneys include a former insurance-defense lawyer, a civil engineer, an ICU nurse and two New Yorkers who grew up translating for their families. Different roads here, one reason for staying.

What we believe

Four rules we work by, on every case

  1. Tell the truth early

If your case is weak, you hear it in the first call, not after a year. If it's strong, you hear what could still go wrong.

  2. Prepare every case for trial

Insurers keep track of which firms give up. We build every file as if a jury will see it, so the other side takes it seriously.

  3. Answer the phone

A real person answers 24/7. Calls are returned the same business day, and your case manager checks in monthly without being asked.

  4. Speak your language

Your case can run fully in English, Spanish or Portuguese, with attorneys who speak it, not just an interpreter on the line.

Our promises

What we will never do

Injury law has a reputation. These are the lines we hold so you can trust the advice you get from us, including when the advice is "this case isn't worth bringing."

  • Promise you a result or a dollar amount
  • Charge you a fee if there is no recovery
  • Pressure you to sign anything on the first call
  • Settle your case without your approval
  • Ask about your immigration status
  • Hand your case off without telling you who is handling it
