About Tandem
A local paving and sealcoating company with a real yard, a phone that gets answered and quotes you can check with a tape measure.
Two paving crews and one seal-and-stripe crew. About 120 driveways and 30 commercial lots a season.
Since 2011.
Rena Kowalchuk started on a rake in 2004, working for a big road builder. She opened Tandem with one roller, one truck and a rule: measure everything and write it down.
The name comes from the tandem roller: two drums working together. That's the idea behind the whole company: the person who quotes your driveway talks to the person who builds it, and both of them will still be here when it's time to seal it.
We stayed mid-sized on purpose. Big enough for a plaza lot, small enough that the owner still walks most driveways herself.
Three rules
-
01
Square feet in writing
Every quote shows the measured area, the rate per square foot and the minimum job. You can check our math with a tape measure.
-
02
The weather decides
We don't pave on cold or wet ground and we don't seal before rain. If the forecast turns, your date moves. The standard doesn't.
-
03
No knocking on doors
We never sell 'leftover asphalt' from a truck. Real yard, written quote, and a deposit only after you sign.
The people you'll meet
Plus two seasonal crews, most of them back for their third season or more.
