How we do it
Spring in Edmonton is pothole season. A real repair cuts the damaged asphalt out square, fixes the base underneath and fills it with hot mix, rolled flat with the surface around it.
If most of a driveway is failing, patching is throwing good money after bad, and we'll tell you. Sometimes three patches cost more than an overlay.
Example prices
Example ranges for 2026. Small patches cost more per square foot because the crew, the truck and the roller come out either way.
- Infrared repair Heat and rework the existing asphalt, add new mix, roll seamless $9 to $16 per sq ft
- Saw-cut and hot-mix patch Cut square, remove, compact base, 75 mm hot mix $12 to $22 per sq ft
- Full-depth repair Dig out failed base, new gravel, two layers of asphalt $18 to $30 per sq ft
- Winter cold patch (temporary) Keeps a pothole safe until spring $150 to $300 per visit
Minimum$650 minimum for hot-mix repairs.
Every quote includes
- Each repair area measured and marked with paint
- Square saw-cut edges so the patch stays put
- Base compacted before new asphalt goes in
- Edges sealed so water can't get under the patch
What moves the price
- Depth of the damage (surface or base)
- Number of separate areas
- Access for the roller
- Whether patching is still worth it versus an overlay

Questions we get
More in the full FAQ.
Can you fix potholes in winter?
Only with cold patch, and it's temporary. It keeps a hole safe until the asphalt plants open in spring, then we cut it out and do it properly.
Patch or repave?
If damage covers more than about a quarter of the surface, or patches keep failing, an overlay or replacement usually costs less over five years. We'll show you both numbers.
What is infrared repair?
We heat the damaged area, rake it up, add fresh hot mix and roll it. There's no cold joint, so it blends in and seals better than a cut patch on surface damage.
