Comp prep

03THE BLOCK · 8 WEEKS · ONE CYCLE

The
block.

Every coaching engagement runs on 8-week mesocycles. The architecture is the same for everyone; the loads are individual. Below: what the standard cycle looks like from the first session through retest.

  1. WK 0

    Intake + assessment

    60-min session: movement screen, baseline lifts, training history, injury history, schedule. We write your first 8-week block off this.

  2. WK 1 — 4

    Accumulation block

    Volume builds. RPE 7 — 8 most days. We're learning how your body responds to load before turning the screws.

  3. WK 5 — 7

    Intensification block

    Volume drops, intensity climbs. RPE 8 — 9. Heavy singles + doubles. The block where most PRs land.

  4. WK 8

    Realization + retest

    Test week. Re-measure the lifts we baselined. The numbers say what they say. Then we plan the next block.
