Inside the Pivot method

The readiness quiz — 2 minutes

How close are you, really?

Sport, injury, time, and eight capability checks — mapped to where you probably sit in a return-to-sport arc, and what a real assessment would measure next. Educational only: no quiz clears an athlete, and post-op, your surgeon's word comes first.

Dr. Mara Voss, lead physical therapist, standing with arms crossed and smiling in the bright clinic treatment room

Rehab coached by someone who's been on the table

Dr. Mara Voss, PT, DPT, SCS, CSCS — college midfielder, one ACL, two rehabs (the second one done right). Every Pivot athlete works with Mara directly, from the first baseline test to the day you test out.

"I rebuild athletes the way I wish someone had rebuilt me the first time — slower where it counts, tested at every gate, and honest about what the numbers say."

Honest comebacks

All three journeys

Club soccer — winger · ACL reconstruction

Ten and a half months, tested every step

"The retests were the thing. Watching my left leg catch my right on a chart — that's when I stopped being scared of it."

Nora's timeline

Marathon — 3:12 PR · Tibial bone stress injury

Sixteen weeks back to a start line — the wrong one, on purpose

"Pivot's plan cost me my goal race and probably saved my next three years of running. I hated it. They were right."

Devin's timeline

Sport climbing & backcountry skiing · Rotator cuff repair

Seven months from repair to leading again

"I could hang before I could trust it. The confidence work was as real as the strength work — nobody had ever treated fear as part of the injury before."

Sana's timeline

Composite, fictional stories — shown for design demonstration, with timelines kept honest on purpose.

The three we hear first

Referrals, insurance, and visit counts — answered in writing, with nine more on the FAQ page.

All twelve answers
Do I need a referral to start?

No — Oregon has direct access, so you can book an evaluation without a physician referral. The exception is post-surgical rehab: there we work from your surgeon's protocol and their clearance governs every phase change.

Do you take my insurance?

We're cash-based and out-of-network with all insurers. You pay us directly and we give you a superbill after each visit to submit for out-of-network reimbursement — many PPO plans reimburse a meaningful share. Priya can walk you through checking your out-of-network benefits before your first visit.

Why cash-based? Isn't that more expensive?

Sometimes, and sometimes not: you get 60 one-on-one minutes with the same doctor of physical therapy every visit, so plans typically need fewer total visits than a 3-visits-a-week clinic where much of the hour is aides and hot packs. The honest answer is that it depends on your benefits — we publish every price so you can do the math.
