Dr. Adrian Merrow, MD
Dr. Merrow is the founder of Merrow Plastic Surgery and the only surgeon who operates here. He opened the practice in 2016 with one rule: patients should understand their surgery, their recovery and their cost before they ever say yes.
Training
After medical school, he completed a six-year residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at a university hospital, then a fellowship focused on aesthetic surgery of the breast, body and face.
Focus
Breast and body contouring, mommy makeovers, facial surgery, and reconstructive cases referred by local physicians. He keeps his list of procedures short on purpose, so he does each one often.
Outside the practice
Weekends on Front Range trails with his family, and a long-running and mostly unsuccessful attempt to grow tomatoes at altitude.
"A good consultation is one where you leave knowing more, even when the answer is not surgery."
Credentials
Training you can verify
"Board certified" only means something when it is in the right specialty. Dr. Merrow is certified in plastic surgery, which requires a full surgical residency and written and oral exams, and is renewed every year.

Choosing a surgeon
Six things to check in any surgeon
Use this list for us and for every other surgeon you meet. A good practice will be glad you asked.
-
01
Board certification in plastic surgery
Not just "board certified" in any specialty. You can look it up on the certifying board's public website.
-
02
Hospital privileges for the same surgery
A hospital only grants privileges after reviewing training. Ask which hospital and for which procedures.
-
03
An accredited surgical facility
Ask who accredits the operating room and when it was last inspected.
-
04
Who gives your anesthesia
Ask whether a physician anesthesiologist or a nurse anesthetist is in the room for your whole surgery.
-
05
Photos of their own patients
A real gallery shows the surgeon's own cases, with consent, at least a few months after surgery.
-
06
A written quote and a written plan
You should leave with the price and the plan on paper, and time to think.
