Financing a pool

We do not lend money. We explain the common options, show example payments, and introduce you to independent lenders if you ask.

Estimate a monthly payment

Move the numbers to see what a loan could look like. This is simple loan math, not an offer of credit. A lender sets your real rate and terms.

How families usually pay

  • Pool loan

An unsecured loan from an independent lender, often 10 to 20 years. Your home is not the collateral. Rates depend on your credit.

Good for: Owners who want a fixed payment without touching home equity

  • Home equity loan or line (HELOC)

Borrow against your home's equity, usually at a lower rate than an unsecured loan. Your home secures the loan, so read the terms carefully.

Good for: Owners with equity who want the lowest rate

  • Cash or savings

No interest and no application. Our stage-based payment schedule means you pay as the work is done, not up front.

Good for: Owners who have saved for the project

Pay as the work is done

However you finance it, our payments follow the build. You never pay for a stage that has not happened.

  1. 1 At signing 10%
  2. 2 After excavation 30%
  3. 3 After the shell is in 30%
  4. 4 After tile, coping and deck 20%
  5. 5 At completion and start-up 10%

Example schedule for a gunite pool. Fiberglass and remodel schedules have fewer stages.

Questions to ask any lender

Compare at least two offers. These questions make them easier to compare.

  • Is the rate fixed or variable, and what is the APR?
  • Is there a fee to apply, an origination fee or a prepayment penalty?
  • Does the loan pay us in stages, or you in one lump sum?
  • Is my home used as collateral?
  • How long does approval take, and how long is it good for?
