Backyard pergola over an outdoor lounge, with paver walkways and lawn

Outdoor living

Shade, kitchens, fire and light, designed with the pool so the whole yard works as one space.

How we build it

A pool is only half the backyard. The other half is where you sit, cook and stay after the sun goes down. We design shade structures, outdoor kitchens, fire features and lighting in the same 3D model as the pool, so the steps line up and the paving matches.

Building it at the same time saves money. The crew is already on site, the deck is being poured and the gas and electrical lines run once.

A good fit when

  • New pools that need shade: Texas sun is the reason people build pools and the reason they need shade
  • Pool owners who want to cook and eat outside
  • Yards that feel empty after dark

What is included

Every item below is a line in your written contract.

  • Layout in the same 3D design as your pool
  • Pergolas and shade sails sized for afternoon sun
  • Outdoor kitchens with grill, counter, sink and storage
  • Fire pits, fire bowls and gas lines
  • Landscape and pool lighting on one app
  • Paving that matches the pool deck

What it costs

Real ranges from our recent Austin-area projects. Your proposal turns them into one written number.

Full pool cost guide

  • Shade pergola $12,000–$30,000 Aluminum or cedar, about 12 x 16 ft
  • Outdoor kitchen $18,000–$55,000 Grill, counter and sink; more with a fridge or pizza oven
  • Fire bowls or fire pit $4,000–$12,000 Includes the gas line from your meter
  • Paver or travertine patio $14–$30 per sq ft Priced by area and material
  • Lighting package $3,500–$9,000 Path, tree and step lights on a timer or app

Outdoor living work built after the pool still gets a written, line-item quote, but it costs more than doing it in one go.

Questions about outdoor living

Do I need a permit for a pergola or kitchen?

Often, yes, especially with gas, electrical or a roof. Rules depend on your city and HOA. We find out for your address and handle the paperwork.

Can you add outdoor living to a pool another company built?

Yes. We measure the existing pool and deck and design around them.
