Overview
The install is half the window.
A great window installed badly is a bad window. Most callbacks in this trade come from the install: no flashing, gaps stuffed with fiberglass, foam that bows the frame, trim nailed over rot.
Our installers are employees, not subcontractors paid by the window. They work one opening at a time, so each room is open to the weather for less than an hour.
Measure to walkthrough
Six steps, the same every time.
- 01 Measure An installer measures each opening at the top, middle and bottom, checks it for square, and looks at the sills for rot. About an hour for most homes.
- 02 Written quote Every window on its own line: style, size, glass, install type and trim. Good for 60 days. No price that changes if you wait.
- 03 Order Your windows are built to size. Four to eight weeks for most lines. We confirm the install date as soon as they ship.
- 04 Install day One opening at a time: old window out, opening checked, new unit set level and square, insulated, flashed and sealed.
- 05 Trim and clean Interior and exterior trim finished, floors vacuumed, old windows hauled away for recycling.
- 06 Walkthrough We open, close and lock every window with you, and leave the rating labels on until you've seen them. Then you pay the balance.

Straight answers
Is it the right call for your home?
A good fit when
- Windows bought elsewhere that need a careful install? We don't install other suppliers' units, but we'll tell you what to ask for
- Homes built before 1978, where lead-safe practice matters
- Winter installs: we work year-round, one room at a time
Think twice when
- Choosing insert installs to save money when the frames are soft. We'll show you the rot and price both ways
Every quote includes
- Drop cloths, floor runners and dust walls where needed
- Low-expansion foam (it won't bow the frame) and backer rod
- Exterior sealant and flashing tape at the head and sill
- Every window opened, closed and locked at the walkthrough
- Labels left on until you've seen the ratings
Homes built before 1978
Old paint around windows can contain lead. Federal rules require lead-safe work practices when that paint is disturbed: plastic sheeting, dust control, careful clean-up and a cleaning check before we leave. We follow them on every older home, and the setup cost is a line on your quote, not a surprise.
Do I need to be home?
For the first half hour, to walk the crew through, and at the end for the walkthrough. Many homeowners go to work in between.
Do you install in winter?
Yes. We work one opening at a time and keep it covered, so each room is open for 30 to 45 minutes. Sealants we use are rated for cold weather.
Will you move furniture and blinds?
We move furniture away from the windows and put it back. Blinds and curtains come down before we arrive; we can rehang them for a small fee if they'll fit the new frames.
