How ordering works

    Pick what you want
    Browse the menu. Add breads, pastries, coffee. Specific quantities. Remember: pastries are baked daily; specific quantities limited per service.

    Step 2
    Pick pickup time + location
    Same-day pickup: 1+ hour from order placement. Future pickup: up to 2 weeks ahead. Either Mission District or North Berkeley location. Pickup window selectable in 30-min increments.

    Step 3
    Pay + come pick up
    Apple Pay / Google Pay / credit card. Confirmation email + SMS. Show up during your pickup window. Walk to the front counter — order ready in your name.

When it really helps

Saturday + Sunday — high competition
Specialty breads + popular pastries sell out by midday weekends. Order-ahead = guaranteed reservation.
Special occasions
Hosting brunch? Picking up bread for dinner? Order 1-3 days ahead. Multi-loaf orders + larger quantities easier to coordinate.
Specialty + special breads
Limited-edition breads (walnut + raisin, einkorn + spelt blend, etc.) often sell out in 1 hour. Order day-of by 9am to reserve.
Skip the morning rush
Saturday + Sunday 8-11am: regular line is 15-30 minute wait. Order-ahead pickup: 2 minutes. Major time savings.
Specific quantities of popular items
Want 2 morning buns? Want 4 croissants? Want a specific bread you can’t risk being sold out? Order ahead.
Catering for events
Larger orders (10+ items) coordinated with bakery 24-48 hours ahead. Specific quantities; specific timing. Catering page details.

Pickup details

Same-day orders
Place by 11am for same-day afternoon pickup. Some breads + pastries sell out before order placement; we’ll notify if specific items unavailable.
Future orders — 1-14 days ahead
Plan ahead. Specific bread days: Country every day; rye Tue/Thu/Sat; etc. Future-orders confirmed when placed; delivered on order day.
Pickup windows
30-min windows. Examples: 9-9:30am, 9:30-10am, 10-10:30am, etc. Pick the window that works for your schedule.
Order modifications
Can be made up to 6 hours before pickup. After 6 hours: may not be possible to add or change items (kitchen is baking by then).
Order cancellations
Cancellations 24+ hours before pickup: full refund. 12-24 hours: 50% refund. Less than 12 hours: no refund. Specific items already baked.
What if you're late?
Orders held 30 minutes past the end of your window. After 30 minutes: order considered abandoned + items returned to case (subject to availability for purchase).

When you arrive

Walk to the front counter
Tell the staff you’re here for an online order. Provide name + order number from confirmation email.
Quick verification
Staff verifies order. Items already pulled + bagged. Total transit time: 2 minutes typical.
Specific dietary or allergen needs
If you noted dietary needs in your order: specific items pulled appropriately. Verify with staff at pickup if you have severe allergies.
Adding items at pickup
Yes — common. Bread for dinner + decided to grab a coffee + pastry too? Add to order at counter. Pay separately or combine with original order.
Eat in or take out?
Many pickup customers eat in (cafe seating, ~25 seats). Some take their order to go. Either works; same speed.
Specific item issues at pickup
Item sold out before your order processed? Refund issued. Wrong item bagged? Replaced + extras. We resolve issues at pickup; rare but happens.

  • Bread doesn’t travel well. Even 30 minutes in a delivery bag dramatically reduces quality. We’d rather not + tell you, than do it badly.
