Connect WPForms to HubSpot and GA4.
WPForms and HubSpot can talk to each other directly on certain WPForms plan tiers, which sounds simple until you need the click that brought the visitor in to survive the trip alongside the contact record. We build both halves. The same setup applies whether your site runs one lead form or several different WPForms across different landing pages.

The workflow
From a form fill to a matched HubSpot contact.
The field map
We map each WPForms field to the matching HubSpot contact property, name, email, phone, and any custom question, and decide which of those also need to appear as parameters on the GA4 event for reporting. A form with conditional logic, where questions change based on earlier answers, maps the same way once we confirm which paths matter most.
The identity match
HubSpot's own tracking cookie identifies a returning visitor across pages, and we add a hidden field that captures the gclid from the URL on landing, so the contact record carries both HubSpot's identity and the ad click identity together. We confirm during setup whether your specific WPForms plan tier supports the hidden field feature this depends on.
Where the data enters
A submission can push into HubSpot through WPForms' native HubSpot integration where available, or through Zapier or Make. Once that lands, a GTM tag watching the confirmation step sends the matching GA4 event along with the Google Ads conversion tag. We choose the direct HubSpot connection whenever your plan supports it, since it is usually the simpler path to maintain.
How failures surface
If a visitor's gclid does not survive the trip to the form, the contact still lands correctly in HubSpot, it simply cannot be matched back to a specific ad click, which we surface as an unmatched rate rather than a silent gap. We report that rate to you rather than letting it sit hidden inside your contact list.
What makes this hold up over time.
Access we need first
Admin access to your WordPress site and WPForms settings, admin access to your HubSpot portal, and GTM container access if a GA4 event needs to fire on submission. We do not need access to billing details in either system, only the settings this workflow touches.
What gets delivered
A hidden gclid field on your live form, a tested HubSpot connection that creates or updates the right contact fields, and a GTM tag confirmed to send the matching GA4 event the moment a real visitor submits the form. We also write down the exact HubSpot fields used, so anyone on your team can see where the data lands.
The acceptance test
We fill out the live form ourselves using a link built to look like a real ad click, and check that the resulting HubSpot contact has the right fields while GA4 logs the matching event. If the contact record does not populate correctly on the first try, we keep testing until it does.
What is out of scope
HubSpot's own lifecycle stages and any lead scoring rules you run inside HubSpot after the contact is created are your workflow decisions. We connect the form to HubSpot. What HubSpot does next with that contact is yours, and a broader lifecycle stage strategy is a separate, clearly scoped project.
How the setup runs.
01
Audit
We check your WPForms plan tier and add ons, whether a native HubSpot connection is available or Zapier is needed, and what GTM tags already exist on the form pages.
02
Build
We add the hidden gclid field, connect the form to HubSpot through the available method, and configure GTM so the GA4 event and the Google Ads conversion tag both fire off that same confirmation.
03
Verify
We run one full submission ourselves, check that the resulting HubSpot contact looks right, and confirm the matching GA4 event lands before handing the build back.
WPForms to HubSpot and GA4 FAQ.
No. WPForms' native HubSpot addon has historically been limited to its higher plan tiers, and the company revises those tiers every so often without much notice. We check exactly what your current plan includes before recommending a build path.
We route the submission through Zapier or Make instead, which reaches HubSpot without needing that specific addon. It is a slightly different wiring path but the end result for your contact record is the same.
No. HubSpot matches on email by default, so a repeat submission updates the existing contact rather than duplicating it, as long as the same email address is used.
Yes. We store it in a custom contact property so your team can see it and so it is available if you later connect HubSpot's own Google Ads integration for offline conversions.
WPForms is a WordPress plugin, so the form itself needs to live on a WordPress page or post. If your marketing pages sit elsewhere, we will look at whether embedding is realistic for your setup.
