Levels are about demand and experience, never effort. Every guest gets the same consultation, the same products and the same time in the chair. A New Talent appointment is the same craft, earlier in its story, at a friendlier price.

New Talent

1 to 3 years on the floor

Licensed stylists building their book, mentored every day by our education director. Same products, same time in the chair, gentler prices. A master colourist also signs off on every colour formula.

Senior Stylist

4 to 8 years behind the chair

Established stylists with a full book and a clear specialty. Most guests book here: proven hands, reliable results, and openings that usually come up within the week.

Master Stylist

9+ years, educator level

Our most-requested chairs and the people who train everyone else. Master prices reflect demand on their calendar, not extra effort, because every level gets the same care. Expect to book two to three weeks out.

Colour philosophy

Colour that lives in daylight.

Salon lighting flatters everything; that's its job. Ours doesn't get the final say. Every formula at Studio Mer is checked at a north-facing window before it's called done, because your colour spends its life on the seawall, in your kitchen and under office lights. If it only works under our bulbs, it doesn't work.

The craft

Cut dry first. Always.

Wet hair lies. It hangs longer, behaves better, and tells your stylist nothing about the cowlick that runs your mornings. Every Studio Mer cut starts dry, with your hair doing whatever it actually does, and ends with a two-minute lesson in getting the salon finish from the tools you already own.

Every first visit starts with fifteen unhurried minutes in the chair before water or colour touches your hair. Bring photos. If we think a look won't survive your mornings, we'll tell you.
