Questions
Questions, answered plainly
If your question is not here, call a nurse. There are no silly questions in fertility care, only ones people are too nervous to ask.
01 Getting started
When should we see a fertility specialist?
A common guideline is after a year of trying if you are under 35, after six months if you are 35 to 39, and right away if you are 40 or older. You can also come sooner if you have irregular cycles, a known condition, or simply want answers.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can book with us directly. Some insurance plans ask for a referral, and we will tell you if yours does when we check your benefits.
Can my first visit be virtual?
Yes. First consults can be by secure video from anywhere in Minnesota. Testing and procedures happen at our clinic.
What happens at the first consult?
About an hour with your doctor. You talk through your history and goals, your doctor explains what might be going on, and you leave with a testing plan. Bring your partner and your questions.
02 Costs and coverage
Do you take insurance?
Yes, we work with most major plans in Minnesota. Coverage for fertility care varies a lot, so we check your benefits before your first visit and tell you what to expect.
How much does IVF cost?
A typical IVF cycle at Wrenfield runs $14,000 to $19,000 before medicine, and medicine adds $3,000 to $7,000. You get a written estimate with every line before you start. Our costs page has the full list.
03 Treatment and results
Why don't you show success rates on your homepage?
Because one big number hides too much: age, diagnosis, and how a clinic counts. We would rather show you our published results for people like you, at your consult, and teach you how to compare any clinic fairly.
Is egg freezing a guarantee?
No. It improves your chances later, but nothing guarantees a baby. Your doctor will give you a personal estimate based on your age and test results.
I was just diagnosed with cancer. What do I do?
Call our preservation line at (612) 555-0163. A nurse calls back the same business day, and we aim to see you within two business days.
04 Your family and your privacy
Do you see single parents and LGBTQ+ families?
Yes, every week. Our forms, our words, and our plans are built for every kind of family. Dr. Haddad leads our LGBTQ+ and donor programs.
How do you protect my privacy?
Your records are kept in a secure medical record system, and we only share them with people you approve, such as your oncologist or family doctor. Our online forms ask only broad questions. Medical details are discussed privately at your visit.
Can my partner come to appointments?
Always, in person or by joining the video call. Partners are part of the plan, not visitors.
