About this care

Birth control at Hollin

There is no single best birth control. There is the one that fits your body, your plans and how much you want to think about it. We walk you through every option, including the ones you may have heard mixed things about.

If you choose an IUD or implant, we can often place it at the same visit after a quick pregnancy test and a benefits check. If you only need a refill, a short video visit usually does it.

This visit is for you if

  • You want to start, switch or stop birth control
  • You are thinking about an IUD or implant and have questions
  • Your current method has side effects you do not like
  • You need emergency contraception or a refill

What is included

From question to method

  1. Step 1

    Talk it through

We start with what matters to you: periods, side effects, future pregnancy plans, how often you want to think about it.

  2. Step 2

    Check coverage

Our team checks how your plan covers your choice, including the device, before anything is placed.

  3. Step 3

    Start the method

Pills, patch and ring go home with a prescription. IUDs and implants take about 15 minutes in the office.

  4. Step 4

    Follow up

A short check-in after a new method, by video or in person. You can switch any time if it is not right.

FAQ

Questions about birth control

All questions

Does an IUD placement hurt?

Most people feel cramping for a few minutes. We talk about pain relief options with you before the visit, including medicine you can take ahead of time and numbing options in the office.

Can I get my refill without coming in?

Often, yes. If you have seen us in the past year and nothing has changed, a short video visit usually covers a refill.

Do I need an exam to start the pill?

No. Most people can start the pill, patch or ring after a conversation and a blood pressure check.
