The story of the house

Architects build differently when the client is their own family — details are argued about at breakfast for a year before they are drawn. Vale House is the result: a cantilevered cedar-and-render composition that took a national residential award in 2024.

The plan is a broad L around a southern lawn, so the kitchen, library, and primary suite each own a private slice of garden. Glazing is triple, heat is geothermal, and the roof feeds a 22kW array — the house ran at net zero through last winter.

Linden Vale allows nothing over two stories, and the crescent's covenants keep it that way. What you are buying, in the end, is permanent sky.

Worth noticing

  • National residential architecture award, 2024
  • Geothermal heat, 22kW solar array — net zero certified
  • Triple glazing, cedar rain-screen cladding
  • South lawn with heated 60-ft lap pool
  • Detached studio / guest pavilion
