10.0About

We built the software we wished we had. Then we priced it in public.

Lintel started with a 300-unit management company, a closet full of binders, and one too many month-ends spent matching bank lines by hand.

Our story

Nora Castellano ran a property management company in Raleigh for nine years. The software she used could collect rent, but the owner statements still came out of a spreadsheet, the maintenance requests still came in by text, and every month-end took a week.

Ben Okafor built payments systems for a regional bank. When Nora showed him her reconciliation spreadsheet, he asked why the software did not just do that. They started Lintel in 2019 to find out.

The first version did three things: collect rent, post it to the right ledger, and show the bank and the books side by side. It still does those three things first. Everything since, from screening to owner portals, was built because customers asked for it and because it had to write to the same ledger.

We are 34 people, most of us in Raleigh. Several of us have managed rentals, kept trust books or worked a maintenance line. When you call, one of us answers.

10.1Principles

Four rules we do not bend.

  1. 01

    Price per door, in public

Every plan, minimum and fee is on the pricing page. The number you see is the number you pay.

  2. 02

Your data leaves when you do

Export everything at any time, including for 60 days after you cancel. No exit fee, no hostage data.

  3. 03

Moving in is part of the product

Import help is included on every plan. A trial that never gets its rent roll in is our failure, not yours.

  4. 04

    You make the calls

Lintel does not approve tenants, set rents or decide who gets a late fee. It makes your rules easy to apply the same way every time.

10.2So far

Seven years, one ledger.

  1. 2019

Nora and Ben start Lintel in Raleigh after one too many month-ends spent reconciling by hand.

  2. 2020

First paying customers: eleven landlords and one 90-unit management company.

  3. 2022

Trust accounting and owner statements ship. Growth becomes the most chosen plan.

  4. 2024

The onboarding team starts importing rent rolls for every Growth customer, free.

  5. 2026

Portfolio plan for multifamily operators: entities, approvals and budgets.
