The hardest part of new software is getting your data into it, and it is the part most trials never finish. So the import is part of Lintel: templates and live help on Starter, and on Growth and Portfolio our onboarding team does it for you.
5.1The plan
Five steps, about three weeks for a management company.

1 Week 0
Pick a go-live date
Usually the 1st of a month, so rent for the new month is collected in Lintel from day one.

2 Week 1
Export from what you use now
We send a checklist for your current setup: tenants, leases, balances, deposits, owners, vendors and the general ledger.

3 Week 1 to 2
We map and import it
On Starter you fill our spreadsheet templates with chat help. On Growth and Portfolio our team does the import.

4 Week 2 to 3
Check every balance
Tenant balances, deposits held and owner balances must match your old system to the cent before we switch.

5 Week 3
Invite tenants and owners
Pre-written invites go out by text and email. Tenants set up autopay before the 1st.

From spreadsheets and paper
- 01Download our templates: they use the same columns most landlord spreadsheets already have
- 02Paste in units, tenants, lease dates, rent amounts and what each tenant owes today
- 03Upload, and chat support checks the file with you before anything goes live
- 04Start with opening balances. You do not need years of history to collect next month's rent
From another platform
- 01We send an export checklist written for the kind of system you use now
- 02Export the rent roll, tenant ledgers, deposits, owners, vendors and the general ledger
- 03Our team maps old accounts to your new chart and imports it (Growth and Portfolio)
- 04We run both side by side until every balance matches, then pick the go-live date with you
