Migration: Multi-Site Consolidation
Several sites, one strong domain.
Running separate sites for different products or brands often means two pages competing for the same search, on two different domains. Consolidating them means deciding a winner for every overlap, not just moving files.
- Every overlapping page reviewed, not merged blindly
- A single redirect plan across every source domain
- Free scope within one business day
The entity map
Every page, from every site, accounted for.
A full inventory across every source site
We crawl each site being consolidated and pull its Search Console data separately, so we know which pages on each domain actually earn traffic or links before deciding what happens to them.
Deciding the survivor on every overlap
When two sites each have a page targeting the same search, one becomes the surviving page, rebuilt to cover what both originals did well, and the other redirects into it. Picking neither, or leaving both live under one domain, just recreates the same competition internally.
The redirect plan
Every retiring domain gets a full 301 map into the surviving site, verified through Search Console's Change of Address tool where a full domain is folding into another, not just a section of it.
Tracking that must survive
Each source site's GA4 property, Google Ads account, and any Merchant Center feed needs a plan: consolidated into the surviving property, or archived and replaced, so nothing keeps reporting against a domain that no longer serves live traffic.
What consolidation actually risks
If two of your sites both rank for the same core term
we check which one currently performs better before deciding which page survives, since combining backlink profiles only helps if the surviving page is genuinely the stronger, more complete version of the content.
If your sites serve genuinely different audiences
we confirm consolidation is the right call at all, since merging content that served different intents under one page can weaken it for both audiences instead of strengthening it for either.
If one of the sites has weak or spammy backlinks
we review that domain's link profile before folding it in, since consolidating a site with a poor link history into a clean one can bring risk along with whatever ranking value it has.
What we cannot promise
We cannot promise a merged page instantly outranks where both originals sat separately, since Google has to reassess the combined page under one URL. What we can promise is a deliberate plan for every overlap, not a guess.
How the consolidation runs
01
Audit every source site
We crawl and pull Search Console data for each site being consolidated, flagging every page that overlaps with another.
02
Decide, build, and redirect
We decide the surviving page for every overlap, rebuild it to cover both originals, and map the full redirect from every retiring domain.
03
Launch and monitor
Redirects go live together across every source domain, sitemaps are resubmitted, and we monitor closely as the combined site settles.
Multi-site consolidation FAQ
It depends on the overlap. If two sites compete for the same searches, combining them into one strong page usually helps, since you stop splitting your own authority. If the sites serve genuinely different purposes, forcing them together can weaken both, which is why we review each overlap individually.
It redirects in full to the surviving site through a complete 301 map, and stays registered so the redirect keeps working. We recommend not letting a retired domain lapse for a good while after the consolidation.
The links themselves stay wherever they were placed, and a 301 redirect carries most of their value forward to the new page. We cannot edit the anchor text other sites used, only make sure the destination is correct, which is why the surviving page needs to actually deliver on what that anchor text promised.
We look at which page currently performs better in Search Console, which one is more complete, and which is easier to strengthen further. The goal is one page that covers everything both originals did, not just the one that happened to exist longer.
The real driver is how many pages overlap across your sites, since each overlap needs its own decision and rebuild. Once every site is reviewed, the number is final and reaches you within one business day.
