Key facts
- Houzz Pro's own pricing page, shown to us in Canadian dollars, listed Design at $139/mo CAD (about $99 USD) and Pro at $279/mo CAD (about $199 USD) on the date we checked, with Teams starting at $559/mo CAD (about $399 USD) and a separate ads package quoted as "starting at $685/mo."
- Houzz Pro's services agreement states plans "renew automatically without additional notice for successive 12-month terms" unless you cancel at least 30 days before renewal.
- The agreement states "all amounts payable to Houzz are non-refundable unless expressly provided otherwise," with pro-rated refunds only if Houzz itself ends the contract without cause.
- If a payment is past due, Houzz's agreement says it "may limit your use of the Pro Platform," and its photography service is withheld until the balance is paid.
- The agreement states "you shall not sell User Data," meaning client data you collect inside Houzz Pro is yours to manage but not yours to resell.
What Houzz Pro Actually Is
Houzz Pro is not simply a lead marketplace. It is software, billed as a subscription, that bundles project management, estimates, invoicing, and a directory profile into one product for design and build pros. On the pricing page we checked, Houzz listed a Design plan, a Pro plan with added features like bid management and daily logs, and a Teams plan that adds a premium profile, email marketing, and a custom website.
Prices were shown directly on that page rather than hidden behind a contact-sales form: Design at $139/mo CAD (about $99 USD), Pro at $279/mo CAD (about $199 USD), and Teams starting at $559/mo CAD (about $399 USD) on the date we checked, since the page displayed pricing to us in Canadian dollars. A separate advertising package, described as starting at $685/mo, required contacting Houzz directly for a quote. Prices can change and can vary by region and currency, so treat the numbers here as what we saw on the date listed, not a permanent rate.
The Directory and Lead Side
Even though Houzz Pro is sold as software, the subscription also carries visibility on Houzz's public directory, where homeowners browse and contact pros. The higher tiers add more of this: the Teams plan, on the page we checked, specifically adds a premium profile, which implies your placement in front of homeowners depends partly on which tier you pay for, not only on your reviews or work.
Houzz's own pages we reviewed did not state whether a single homeowner inquiry is shown to more than one pro on the directory side the way a pure lead marketplace does. Treat that specific mechanic as unpublished rather than assumed.
Billing, Auto-Renewal, and Refunds
Houzz Pro's own services agreement says plans renew automatically without additional notice for successive 12-month terms unless you cancel at least 30 days before the term ends. Houzz can also raise your price with 30 days' notice, and continuing to use the platform after that counts, under the agreement, as accepting the new rate.
On refunds, the agreement is blunt: all amounts payable to Houzz are non-refundable unless expressly provided otherwise. If Houzz ends your subscription for a breach on your part, you get nothing back. If Houzz ends it without cause, the agreement says it will refund prepaid amounts on a pro-rated basis for services not yet delivered.
What Happens if You Stop Paying
Houzz's agreement states that if you have payments past due, Houzz may limit your use of the Pro Platform. That is described as a limit on access, not necessarily an immediate full shutdown, but the practical effect for a paying customer relying on the software daily is the same: the tools stop being reliably available.
The agreement also flags one specific consequence: if you owe money, Houzz's photography service will not be made available to you until that balance is settled.
What You Own Inside Houzz Pro
You keep ownership of the estimates, proposals, invoices, and contracts, referred to in the agreement as Pro Documents, that you create. You are also responsible for the client information you store there, called User Data in the agreement, and Houzz's own terms are direct on this point: you shall not sell User Data.
The tradeoff is on the exit side. The agreement states Houzz may keep any data collected from you and can charge a fee to provide you a copy of your own data after you leave. So while you legally own your project content day to day, getting a clean, free copy of it on the way out is not guaranteed by what Houzz publishes.
When Houzz Pro Is the Right Tool
Houzz Pro is a strong fit for a design-build or remodeling business that wants project management, invoicing, and a public profile in one subscription, and would rather pay a known monthly fee than an unpredictable per-lead cost. The published pricing, rare among the providers in this series, makes budgeting easier from the start.
It is a weaker fit if your priority is owning your customer data with no strings on export, since Houzz's own agreement reserves the right to charge for a data copy after you leave, and locks you into a 12-month renewal unless you cancel with 30 days' notice.
Related questions
Yes, more openly than most providers in this category. Its pricing page showed named tiers with monthly dollar amounts for Design, Pro, and Teams plans on the date we checked, though a separate ads package required contacting sales for a quote.
Houzz's own agreement says it may limit your use of the Pro Platform if you have payments past due, and that its photography service is not available while a balance is outstanding. The agreement does not describe a specific grace period before that limit applies.
Generally no. The agreement states amounts paid are non-refundable unless stated otherwise, and if Houzz ends your account for your own breach, you are not entitled to a refund. A pro-rated refund only applies if Houzz cancels without cause.
You do, and the agreement bars Houzz from selling that data. The catch is on export: Houzz's agreement says it may keep data it collected after you leave and can charge for providing you a copy.
If you want one subscription that also runs your projects and invoices, Houzz Pro's bundled software is a real advantage over a pure lead marketplace. If you mainly want new customer contacts at the lowest cost and already have project software you like, a narrower lead product or your own website and ads may suit you better.
