Memory care
The Orchard: a smaller, calmer world for people living with dementia
Memory care is not assisted living with a locked door. It is a different place, built around how dementia changes the day.
- Two small households of 11, with the same care partners most days
- Keypad-secured doors and a walled garden with a looping path
- Dementia care training before the first shift, and every year after
- A life-story profile for every resident, read by every new staff member
Family stories
Families tell it better than we do
“We toured five places. This was the only one where staff talked to Mom, not just to me. Eight months later, the same two care partners still look after her most days.”
-
01
A named care partner
Each resident has the same small group of care partners most days. You will know their names, and they will know your parent's story.
-
02
A care plan you can read
Before move-in, our nurse writes a care plan with you. It is in plain words, you get a copy, and we review it together every three months.
-
03
Updates without chasing
A short note from the care team every week, a call when anything changes, and a family care meeting each season.

Questions families ask first
What is the difference between assisted living and independent living?
Independent living is an apartment with meals, housekeeping and activities, for people who do not need daily care. Assisted living adds hands-on help with bathing, dressing, medications and getting around, guided by a written care plan.
How do I know if my parent needs memory care?
Memory care is usually right when memory loss affects safety, like wandering, getting lost, or not recognising danger. Our nurse offers a free care assessment, and we will tell you honestly what fits.
How much does assisted living cost at Hazelbrook?
Assisted living ranges from $5,200 to $7,400 a month, depending on the suite and the care plan. Memory care ranges from $7,600 to $9,800. Our pricing guide shows every range and every extra.
Will the price go up if care needs change?
It can. We show you the updated care plan and the new price in writing before anything changes. Most families see their first care review at 30 days.
How long does it take to move in?
Most moves take two to four weeks from the care assessment. If a parent is being discharged from hospital, call us. We can sometimes move faster, and we will say so honestly if we cannot.
When can family visit?
Any time. After 8 p.m., ring the front desk. Family are welcome to join meals for $14, and our private dining room can be booked for birthdays.
