Rabbits + small pets

Rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, and hamsters need a vet who knows them. Dr. Okafor and Dr. Raman see small pets for checkups, teeth checks, nail trims, and sick visits, in a quiet room away from dogs. We don't treat birds or reptiles, and we'll refer you to an avian and exotic practice we trust.

How it works

What happens, step by step.

  1. Bring them in a carrier

A secure carrier with a towel and some of their usual hay or food. A fresh droppings sample helps too.

  2. A calm exam

Weight, teeth, eyes, coat, belly, and feet, done on a non-slip mat and at their pace.

  3. Diet and housing

Most small-pet problems start with diet or setup. We go over both, without the lecture.

  4. A plan to take home

Written notes on food, teeth, and what to watch for, and when to come back.

Don't book online if you see this

These are emergencies. A phone call is faster than any booking form.

  • A rabbit or guinea pig that stops eating or stops making droppings for 12 hours
  • Breathing with an open mouth or a lot of effort
  • A head tilt, rolling, or a sudden loss of balance
  • Wet, dirty fur under the tail, especially in warm weather

Who you'll see

Any of these vets.

"Hard to find a vet who actually knows rabbits. They checked Biscuit's back teeth, went over his hay, and didn't make me feel silly about any of my questions."
Priya S., with Biscuit, 2-year-old rabbit Sample review written for this demo.

Questions we hear

Fair questions, plain answers.

Do rabbits need vaccines?

There is a vaccine for rabbit hemorrhagic disease (RHDV2). Whether it makes sense depends on your rabbit's risk, and we'll talk it through at the checkup.

Which vets see small pets?

Dr. Okafor and Dr. Raman. When you book a rabbit or small pet online, the scheduler only shows their days.
