Migration: Rebrand
New name, new domain, same rankings intact.
A rebrand changes more than the URL. Your Google Business Profile, your social profiles, and every person who used to search your old business name all need a bridge to the new one, on top of the standard redirect work.
- Redirect map and brand transition planned together
- Google Business Profile updated, not left stale
- Free scope within one business day
The entity map
Everything carrying your old name.
Every page, mapped and redirected
The standard domain redirect work still applies: every old URL mapped to its new-domain equivalent, deployed live at cutover. A rebrand often comes with a redesign too, so the mapping accounts for any pages that also changed shape, not just address.
Google Business Profile and directory listings
Your Google Business Profile name, website link, and any directory or citation listing carrying your old business name need a manual update, since none of that updates through a URL redirect. We treat this as its own checklist, separate from the redirect map.
The search visibility gap
People who know you by the old name will keep typing it into Google for a while. There is no redirect for a search query, only content and listings that clearly connect the old name to the new one so those searches still find you.
Tracking that must survive
GA4, Google Ads, and Search Console all need to be pointed at the new domain and verified, and your Google Ads account's business name and final URLs should match the new brand so ad review does not flag a mismatch.
What a rebrand risks that a plain domain change does not
If your backlinks use your old business name as anchor text
we cannot rewrite that text on other people's sites, only redirect the link's destination. The mismatch between old anchor text and new brand name is a real signal that fades over time rather than something a redirect fixes outright.
If your Google Business Profile changes name and address together
we sequence that update carefully, since a large simultaneous change to a verified profile can trigger a re-verification review from Google. Spacing out major profile edits where possible reduces that risk.
If your rebrand involves a legal name or trademark change
that clearance is a legal step outside our scope, and we recommend confirming it with your lawyer before the public-facing rebrand launches, since unwinding a public rebrand after the fact is far harder than delaying it.
What we cannot promise
We cannot promise instant brand recognition under the new name, since that takes real marketing and time, not a technical migration. What we can promise is that the searches for your old name still find your new one.
How the migration runs
01
Map the redirect and the brand checklist
We build the URL redirect map and, separately, the full list of profiles and listings that need a manual name update.
02
Launch together
The new domain goes live with redirects active, and we work through the Google Business Profile and directory updates in the same window.
03
Monitor and reinforce
We watch Search Console and your Business Profile through the following weeks, since a rebrand takes longer than a plain domain change to fully settle.
Rebrand and domain migration FAQ
For a while, yes, especially if your old domain keeps redirecting and your Google Business Profile clearly reflects the new name. Over time, more of that search volume shifts to the new name as awareness catches up, but there is no way to redirect a search query directly.
Generally after the new domain is live and redirects are confirmed working, so the profile's website link points somewhere real. Updating the profile too early, before the new site exists, can create a broken link on a page Google already trusts.
It can, particularly if the name, address, and category all change at once. We sequence major edits where possible to reduce that risk, though the final decision on any review sits with Google, not with us.
Yes. Ad copy, final URLs, and the business name on the account should match the new brand consistently, since a mismatch between what an ad says and what the landing page shows can affect ad review and quality.
It depends on your site size and how many profiles and directory listings need a manual update under the new name. That scope, and its price, will reach you within one business day.
