SEO agency takeover

Take over an SEO campaign without starting over.

Unlike a paid account, most of your SEO work lives on your own site. We check what you actually own, audit what already ranks, and pick up from there instead of resetting the clock.

  • Audits what already ranks before changing anything
  • Checks which links and content are actually yours
  • No promise every link an old agency built survives

How we work an SEO takeover

Keep the equity that already sits on your site.

The evidence we pull first

We confirm who holds admin access to your domain, CMS, Search Console, Analytics, and Business Profile, and we pull a full read of what currently ranks, what content exists, and what the backlink profile actually looks like, before deciding anything needs to change.

The triage order we follow

We separate what lives on your own website, pages, on page optimization, technical fixes already applied, from anything the previous agency hosted on their own side, guest posts on sites they control, content on a platform they own, since only the second group is actually at risk in a handover.

What usually fixes it

Getting admin access added to Search Console, Analytics, and your CMS, pulling copies of past reports and keyword research before access changes hands, and building the next phase of work from an audit of what is already working rather than rewriting pages that already rank.

What we cannot promise

We cannot promise that links built through the previous agency's own network stay in place once you stop paying them, since those can disappear regardless of who manages your SEO afterward. We also cannot promise a specific timeline for new work, because organic search runs on its own slow clock no matter who is driving.

What you already own decides how clean the takeover is

If you already hold admin access to Search Console, Analytics, and your CMS

then the switch is an access change, and your rankings do not reset, since Google evaluates your website, not who manages it. This is the most common situation, and it makes a takeover mostly paperwork rather than technical work.

If some content lives on a subdomain or platform the previous agency actually owns

then that content may not come with you. Map exactly what is hosted where before giving notice, since this is the piece most likely to create a surprise gap once the relationship ends.

If your backlink profile includes placements the previous agency controls directly

then those links, guest posts on sites they manage, a private network, paid placements they renew monthly, can disappear once you stop paying. Links earned independently on other sites stay regardless, so separating the two matters before you assume anything is permanent.

If a new agency wants to rebuild the site or rewrite URLs before auditing what exists

then that is the actual risk to your rankings, not the switch itself. Careless URL changes without proper redirects are one of the few things that genuinely costs rankings during a takeover, so insist on an audit first.

How the engagement runs

01

Secure access and ownership

We confirm you hold admin rights to your domain, CMS, Search Console, and Analytics, and pull copies of existing reports first.

02

Audit what already ranks

We review rankings, content, technical health, and the backlink profile before proposing a single change to anything live.

03

Transition deliberately

We continue what is working, fix what genuinely needs fixing, and avoid rebuilds or URL changes that were not called for by the audit.
