Google Shopping Feed Setup

Get your products into Merchant Center correctly, the first time.

A Shopping or Performance Max campaign for retail needs a feed behind it, built with the exact attributes Google requires, refreshed on a schedule, and approved. A feed alone does not run ads by itself.

What we set up

The required attributes, submitted the way Google expects.

The feed built to Google's required attributes

Product id, title, description, link, image, price, and availability, plus a GTIN, the manufacturer's barcode, for most physical products, since Google requires it outside of a specific exemption process for genuinely GTIN-exempt items. Products missing a required GTIN are usually the single most common reason a first-time feed gets disapproved.

A submission method that fits your platform

A scheduled fetch pulling a feed file on a set interval, the Content API, or a native integration if your store platform has one built in, so the feed refreshes on its own instead of relying on someone remembering to update it. We pick whichever method matches how often prices and stock levels actually change, since a slow refresh on a fast-moving catalog is where most feed problems start.

Feed rules for cleanup without touching the source

Merchant Center feed rules can transform data on the way in, appending a brand name to a thin title for example, without needing to edit the original source feed every time.

A campaign actually pointed at the feed

Once items are approved, we connect a Shopping or Performance Max campaign to the feed, since the feed by itself does not advertise anything until a campaign is built against it.

How this job is scoped

Access we need

Access to your Merchant Center account or the ability to create one, access to your product data source, and Google Ads account access to connect the campaign once items are approved.

What gets delivered

A live product feed in Merchant Center with the required attributes filled, a refresh schedule set, and a campaign connected once items clear Google's review. You keep full access to the Merchant Center account throughout, so the feed is never something only we can see or touch.

The acceptance test

We show items live and approved in Merchant Center, the feed refreshing on schedule without manual intervention, and at least one product actually eligible to serve in a connected campaign. We also confirm the refresh actually ran on its own once, without anyone manually triggering it, before calling the automation done.

What is out of scope

Ongoing monitoring of disapprovals and data mismatches after launch is a separate job, merchant center feed management, since a feed that was correct on day one can drift out of sync as inventory and pricing change.

How the setup runs

01

Product data review

We look at what product data already exists, where the gaps are, GTINs, categories, images, and plan how to fill them before building the feed.

02

Build and submit

The feed gets built with a refresh method that fits your platform, submitted to Merchant Center, and we work through any disapprovals that come back from Google's review.

03

Connect and confirm

Once items are approved, we connect the campaign and confirm at least one product is actually eligible to serve before calling the setup done.

Get your products approved and connected.

Tell us roughly how many products are in the catalog and what platform they currently live on. We will use that to plan the feed build and the review timeline around it. The plan is usually back with you the next business day, free to look through.
