A trades-education hall with shop bays, overhead cranes and dust systems — a small industrial plant wearing a college crest.
Calder Technical College's new Trades Hall had to be both a classroom and a working industrial environment: welding bays with real fume extraction, a 10-ton teaching crane, automotive lifts, and acoustic separation good enough that a lecture could survive next door to a metal shop.
CM at risk alongside the college's architect, with our own superintendents — several of them alumni — reviewing every shop layout for how the trades actually teach. Long-lead crane and dust-collection packages were bought at design development. Our apprenticeship partnership with the college put six Meridian apprentices on their own future campus.
Opened for fall intake as promised. The GMP closed with contingency returned, and the welding program doubled its enrollment within one academic year of opening.
