Senior care

Age is not a disease, but it hides them well. Our senior program moves to twice-yearly exams, adds bloodwork and blood-pressure checks, and focuses on the two things that quietly steal good years: pain and kidney changes. Comfort is a treatment goal here, not an afterthought.

How it works

What happens, step by step.

  1. A longer visit

Senior consults run long, so we can watch your pet walk, sit, and climb, and hear what's changed at home.

  2. Bloodwork and blood pressure

Quiet kidney, thyroid, and liver changes show up here first, often while they're still simple to manage.

  3. A comfort plan

Pain control, diet, and small home changes like rugs and ramps. We aim for more good days.

  4. Check back in six months

Things change faster for seniors, so we set the next visit before you leave.

Who you'll see

Led by one vet.

"Dr. Okafor watched Juniper walk up and down the hall before she said a word. We left with a pain plan, a written price for the bloodwork, and a much clearer idea of what Juniper needs."

Questions we hear

Fair questions, plain answers.

When is my pet a senior?

Most dogs at about 8 years (giant breeds sooner) and most cats at about 10. If you're noticing slowing down, that's a good time to start, whatever the age.

Is it just old age?

Sometimes. Often, though, the slowing down is arthritis pain, dental pain, or kidney changes that can be managed. We can't promise to fix every problem, but we can usually help a senior feel more comfortable.
