GTM Server Side Tagging
Server side tagging, so browsers stop blocking your data.
We move your tags to a server container you control, on your own subdomain, so ad blockers and browser cookie limits stop quietly deleting your tracking data.

- Hosted on infrastructure you own, not a black box
- The same 30 day guarantee covers this setup
What we set up
The pieces of a server side migration.
Server container setup
We stand up a server side GTM container, usually hosted on Google Cloud, and point it at a first party subdomain on your own site.
Client and tag migration
We move your key tags, like the GA4 client and Google Ads tags, from the browser into the server container, checking each one still receives the data it needs.
First party cookie handling
We set the server container to issue cookies from your own domain, which browsers treat far more leniently than the third party cookies ad blockers target.
Latency and cost monitoring
We check that the added server hop does not meaningfully slow the page, and set up basic monitoring so hosting costs do not creep up unnoticed.
Access, delivery, and proof the server container reports correctly.
Access we need
Access to your domain's DNS settings to point a subdomain at the server container, and admin access to your existing GTM web container.
What is delivered
A running server container on your subdomain, your key tags migrated and verified, and a note on the ongoing hosting setup and who owns it.
The acceptance test
We compare a test event sent through the old client side setup against the same event through the server container and confirm both report identical data in GA4 or Google Ads.
Out of scope
We do not take on the ongoing cloud hosting bill. That runs through your own Google Cloud account, and usage costs are usually small but yours to monitor.
How the migration runs.
01
Assess your current tags
We review which tags in your existing container would actually benefit from moving server side, since not every tag needs it.
02
Build the server container
We set up the server container, connect the subdomain, and migrate the priority tags one at a time.
03
Compare and confirm
We run the same event through both the old and new setup side by side until they match, then retire the old path.
Server side tagging, answered.
Not day to day. Once it is built, the server container mostly runs itself. Occasional updates, like a new tag template or a platform change, are easier with some technical comfort, which is part of why we offer to keep checking it.
Yes, a small amount, since the server container typically runs on Google Cloud and usage is billed based on traffic. For most small and mid sized sites this is a modest monthly cost, not a large one.
It fixes a meaningful share, particularly for GA4 and Google Ads data lost to browser cookie limits and some ad blockers, but a determined ad blocker can still block the initial page request. Nothing makes tracking bulletproof.
Often they go up, since data that was being silently dropped by browser restrictions starts arriving again. That is usually a sign the new setup is working, not a mistake.
No. Lead generation and service businesses benefit too, since form and phone tracking are subject to the same browser restrictions as ecommerce events. Any site relying on GA4 or Google Ads data can benefit.
Stop losing tracking data to browsers and ad blockers.
