Implementations / Call Tracking

Connect CallTrackingMetrics calls to GA4 and Google Ads.

A phone call does not arrive with a click ID attached. CallTrackingMetrics swaps in a tracking number so a call ties back to the keyword and ad that produced it, then ships that call to Google Ads and GA4 through its own built in connections.

  • 10% of ad budget, $600 a month minimum
  • No contracts, month to month
  • 30 day guarantee on the first month

The workflow

From a ringing phone to two counted destinations.

The field map

CallTrackingMetrics logs the source, keyword, landing page, and duration behind every tracked call. We map which of those, plus the qualifying rule you choose, becomes the event sent to each destination, since Google Ads and GA4 do not need to receive the identical rule.

The identity match

CallTrackingMetrics's own script captures the gclid the moment a visitor lands on a tracked page, before the phone ever rings, which is what lets a call placed days later still credit the original ad click.

Where the data enters

CallTrackingMetrics documents a native Google Ads Direct Connect feature that talks to the Google Ads API directly, supporting multiple linked accounts and sending Google's enhanced conversions alongside a standard call conversion. Separately, its native GA4 integration sends inbound calls as GA4 events with custom parameters attached, using GA4's Measurement Protocol once you provide your GA4 property's Web Data Stream and API secret. Both connections are genuinely built into CallTrackingMetrics, not routed through a third party.

How failures surface

Google Ads reports a rejection rate inside its own conversion import summary, and GA4's DebugView confirms an event the moment it lands. A call that never reaches either usually traces back to the qualifying rule never marking it as counted, which we check first.

What we check before you trust the numbers.

Access we need first

Admin access to your CallTrackingMetrics account to configure both connections, your Google Ads login to authorize Direct Connect, and your GA4 property's Web Data Stream and API secret for the GA4 side.

What gets delivered

Google Ads Direct Connect and the native GA4 integration both configured and mapped to a qualifying rule for a call to count, plus a written note on what that rule is so your front desk understands it too.

The acceptance test

We place one real test call from a tracked session, mark it qualified the way a real call would be handled, and confirm it lands in both Google Ads' conversion reporting and GA4's DebugView before calling it done.

What is out of scope

Whether your team actually answers every call, and how quickly, is a staffing and process question, not something a tracking connection fixes. We build the pipe and a sensible default qualifying rule.

How the setup runs.

01

Audit

We check your current CallTrackingMetrics tracking number setup, whether Direct Connect or the GA4 integration is already partially configured, and what should count as a qualified call.

02

Build

We authorize Google Ads Direct Connect, configure the GA4 integration with your property's Web Data Stream and API secret, and set the qualifying rule across both.

03

Verify

A real test call runs through a tracked session, marked qualified, and we confirm it lands correctly in both Google Ads and GA4 before handing the setup back.
