About Beacon
A roofer that plans to answer the phone in 2041
Our warranty runs 15 years, so we built a company meant to outlast it. Beacon started in 2004 with one truck and one rule: publish the prices and keep the promises. 22 years and about 3,100 roofs later, the rule hasn't changed.

The story
Built by a roofer who got tired of the excuses
Dale Whitcomb spent twelve years on other people's crews before he started Beacon. He saw the same things again and again: flashing reused to save an hour, quotes that grew after the tear-off, and warranties that disappeared when the truck left town.
So Beacon was built the other way around. Every person on the roof is an employee. Every flashing is new. Every price is written down before the work starts, and the one cost we can't see (rotten decking) has a published price per sheet. When we find a surprise, we photograph it and wait for your okay.
We also stay small on purpose. Our service area ends about 40 minutes from the Harbor Mills shop, because a 15-year warranty only means something if a crew can get to your roof the same week you call.
What we stand for
Four promises, kept on every job
-
01
Employees, not day-labor subs
Every person on your roof works for Beacon. They are background-checked, harness-trained and covered by our workers' comp. No labor brokers, no mystery crews.
-
02
Flashing is never reused
Step flashing, valley metal and pipe boots are all new on every job. Reused flashing is the top cause of the leaks we get called to fix on other people's work.
-
03
Published prices, honest ranges
Our price table is on this website. The calculator uses the same numbers our estimators do, and the on-roof measure only narrows the range.
-
04
Magnet sweep, twice
We roll a magnetic sweeper across your lawn and driveway at clean-up and again at the final walkthrough. Kids and tires stay nail-free.
And six things we won't do
- We won't Knock on your door after a storm
- We won't Ask you to sign anything on your doorstep
- We won't 'Waive' your insurance deductible
- We won't Send a crew of subcontractors you've never met
- We won't Ask for more than a 10% deposit
- We won't Reuse old flashing to save an hour
If anyone ever does one of these with a Beacon shirt on, call (555) 014-8830 and ask for Dale.
